SUNY Oswego fire safety protocols reduce impact on community first responders

SUNY Oswego’s new fire safety protocols have resulted in an 88.5 percent reduction of responses by outside first responders for the most recent quarter, the university announced.

Employees invited to University Community Breakfast on Dec. 10

President Peter O. Nwosu invites SUNY Oswego employees to join him for this year's University Community Breakfast from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall.

There is no formal program, just an invitation for faculty and staff to enjoy a complimentary meal and catch up with colleagues.

BFA Thesis Exhibition running; Artist Reception Dec. 6

The fall 2024 Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition will showcase the top work of graduating BFA students in Tyler Art Gallery is currently open and running through Friday, Dec. 13. An Artist Reception from 5 to 7 p.m. in the gallery will provide an opportunity to meet and celebrate the participating students.

The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

In observance of New Year's Day, the university is pleased to announce that payroll will be distributed ahead of schedule later this month.

Employee payments will be available on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, in recognition of this important holiday.

Deadline approaching to nominate worthy students for Chancellor’s Award

SUNY Oswego seeks to recognize its outstanding students through the Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence, the highest honor bestowed upon a student by the State University of New York, with a Jan. 3, 2025 deadline. The university seeks nominations of students for this year’s award. Please note that only those students graduating between June 2024 and May 2025 are eligible to be nominated. 

Constellation to test emergency sirens Dec. 3

December 2, 2024

Constellation will perform a test of its public notification system on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at approximately 1 p.m. During the test, 40 sirens in the 10-mile radius surrounding the nuclear plants in Scriba will sound for three minutes.

Additional single-siren tests may be conducted throughout the day. Constellation tests the siren system on a monthly and bi-annual basis to ensure public safety.

Entrance signs glowing orange for awareness campaign on gender-based violence

Lights at the SUNY Oswego main entrance sign will glow orange starting at sunsets, running through Dec. 10, as part of the international 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence program.

Holiday Skate with the Lakers to return, supporting local United Way

The Laker women's and men's hockey teams are teaming up with the State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) and the United Way of Greater Oswego County to spread some holiday cheer on ice from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall.
