Campus Climate Survey still open for campus input

Students and employees who have not yet done so are encouraged to complete the SUNY Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Campus Climate Survey email from Viewfinder Campus Climate Surveys LLC. Those who have not filled out their survey should be receiving regular reminders until they submit the form.

Women In Entertainment to host screening and award event

The Women In Entertainment student organization will host five short films from different genres made by members this semester at a special screening and award event starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, in the Marano Campus Center auditorium (room 132).

The red carpet event will include an opportunity for audience members to cast a vote for their favorite film, which will go toward the People's Choice Award.

Rice Creek, River's End Bookstore join forces for nature/outdoor book talk

Rice Creek Associates and SUNY Oswego's Rice Creek Field Station will host a nature and outdoor book talk in partnership with the River's End Bookstore at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the field station.

Organizers invite the campus and community to come indoors to hear about the outdoors as Emil Christmann of the River's End shares some of his favorite picks for nature- and outdoor-themed books, just in time for the holidays. The talk will also be streamed over Zoom for those who wish to attend remotely.

Ushers sought for December Commencement ceremony

The Public Ceremonies Committee is seeking volunteer ushers to welcome graduating students' families, friends and other supporters to the December Commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 14.

Ushers help with overall crowd control and seating people with special needs at the ceremony, which begins at 10 a.m. in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall in Marano Campus Center. Ushers are asked to arrive by 8:30 a.m. because doors open at 9. The ceremony is expected to end around noon.

Screening of 16 mm student films on Fort Ontario provides learning experience for all ages

On Tuesday Dec. 3, SUNY Oswego’s Cinema and Screen Studies Department will host a screening of their finished 16 mm short films on local historic treasure Fort Ontario in the Marano Campus Center auditorium (room 132).

Blackfriars theatre organization to host Holiday Cabaret

The Blackfriars student theatre organization will host a Holiday Cabaret at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, in Tyler Hall's lab theatre (room 46).

The campus community is invited to watch some Holiday performances or sing some of their own. Attendees also can enjoy some end-of-semester sweet treats and vote in the Theater Staff Holiday Cookie Bake-off.

SUNY Oswego's African Student Organization is celebrating 20 years of being a Student Association-recognized organization at this institution. with a birthday day party on Friday, Dec. 6, in the Sheldon Hall ballroom. Doors open at 6 p.m., with event to begin by 7 p.m.

Research Council seeks input from qualitative researchers

SUNY Oswego's Research Council is conducting a survey to understand the experiences and resource needs of qualitative researchers at SUNY Oswego.

So far, the council has received over 30 responses from faculty across campus and thank each and every person who has responded so far. If you are a qualitative researcher and have yet to complete the survey, it is available at this link.

Retirement celebration for Mary Canale slated Dec. 2

The campus community is invited to a retirement celebration for Vice President for University Advancement Mary Canale from 2 to 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, in Sheldon Hall Ballroom. 

Canale retires after 28 years of distinguished service to her alma mater.

The 1981 alumna joined the development team in 1996 in a part-time position as coordinator of the annual Oswego State Fall Classic fundraiser.  She later became assistant director of development and, in 2002, instituted the major gifts program before becoming associate vice president for development.

Money Matters financial literacy program supporting SUNY Oswego students

A new Money Matters program headquartered in SUNY Oswego’s Financial Aid Office launched in August 2024 and has already reached hundreds of students by providing financial literacy resources.
