'Strength in Solidarity' program probes effects of ICE raids in Cato

"Strength in Solidarity" is an interactive panel presentation from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, led by members of the Rural and Migrant Ministry (RMM) and the Workers’ Center of Central New York. The discussion in 175 Shineman Center focuses on the federal ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) raid that occurred in nearby Cato, examining its deep and lasting effects on individuals, families and the broader community.

2025 'Tithe My Shoes' drive starts on campus

The 2025 "Tithe My Shoes" effort is underway on campus to collect 1,247 pairs of boots, sneakers and shoes throughout Oswego County through Dec. 10.

This includes collection boxes in the Marano Campus Center and Hewitt Hall at this time.

The footwear will be repaired and reconditioned before being delivered to the Rescue Mission in Syracuse. The shoes will then be distributed to various charities throughout New York state.

Camera crew filming campus spaces today

A professional video crew will be on campus today, Friday, Nov. 14, from noon to 6 p.m., capturing footage of campus life for SUNY Oswego’s upcoming recruitment marketing campaigns. Filming will take place at various locations throughout the afternoon.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to wear green and gold to show their Laker pride and help create a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere.

If you prefer not to appear in video footage, we recommend avoiding areas where filming is actively taking place.

SEFA’s Baskets of Caring in-person sales run Nov. 19 and 20

The SUNY Oswego State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) campaign's most popular fundraiser shifts into live sales, as the campus community can buy chances for the Baskets of Caring raffle from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 20 in the Marano Campus Center concourse.

For this creative fundraiser, employees within a unit or area come up with a theme and fill baskets with fun items related to that theme. People vote for their favorite baskets by buying chances to win them for $1 each, with all proceeds supporting the United Way of Greater Oswego County.

SUNY Oswego's new School of Humanities will present "A Public Humanities Salon: Ghosts, Memory and the Archive" featuring student and faculty work at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, in Penfield Library's Lake Effect Cafe.

The event aims to present an evening where the past lingers, the present reflects and the field of humanities reveals what refuses to be forgotten.

Student and faculty projects that bring the ghosts of memory to life inside an archive of stories, artifacts, and creative works.

SUNY Oswego Pluralism Mini Grant awardees announced

The SUNY Oswego Pluralism Committee, with support from InterFaith America and the Provost's Office, is delighted to announce the recipients of the Fall 2025 Pluralism Mini-Grants.

These $500 grants were established to build an institutional commitment to pluralism by providing opportunities for the campus community to respect, relate and cooperate across differences. The funding will support faculty and staff in incorporating pluralism into their course content and/or university events throughout the Fall 2025 semester.
