Faculty Scholarly and Creative Activity Grant
Deadline: Monday, Feb. 16, 2026

Weather update: Remote instruction and campus operations Jan. 28; Student Involvement Fair postponed

SUNY Oswego has announced that all classes at both the Oswego and Syracuse campuses will be taught remotely on Wednesday, Jan. 28.

The campus-wide Student Involvement Fair also will be postponed.

Penfield Library shares 2024-25 Annual Report

The faculty and staff of Penfield Library are pleased to announce the publication of the 2024-25 Library Department Annual Report. If you have ever wondered:

  • What were the most checked-out books of the year?
  • How many questions do library employees get asked in a year?
  • How does the library help students save money?

You’ll find the answers to all that and much more in the library’s annual report.

Sustainability survey launches campus-wide; watch for Feb. 3 email

The SUNY Oswego Office of Sustainability is administering two surveys (one for students and one for faculty and staff) to gather information on attitudes, abilities, and habits related to sustainability. 

Students, faculty and staff will receive an email invitation to participate in the survey on Feb. 3. Taking a few moments to help gather this valuable information is much appreciated.

SUNY Oswego broadcasting graduates featured on NBC ‘Today’ segment celebrating alumnus Al Roker’s 30th anniversary

SUNY Oswego graduates appeared on-air on NBC’s “Today” show on Jan. 27 as the program celebrated the 30th anniversary of hiring one of the university’s most famous alumni – Al Roker, also known widely as “America’s Favorite Weatherman.”

Business faculty member publishes international research on social media marketing

With the rise of entrepreneurship, social media marketing and globalization, College of Business and Entrepreneurship faculty member Barry Friedman’s research on these key topics include co-authoring an article with international partners that examines and offers tips to those trying to thrive in business.

Celebrate Snow festival highlights winter activities at Rice Creek

Rice Creek Field Station invites the public and members of the campus community to a host of free environmental education programs this winter. Highlighting the winter events calendar is the sixth-annual Celebrate Snow winter festival on Saturday, Feb. 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (with a severe weather date of Feb. 15).

Student reading contest: Read for fun at Penfield

Many Lakers grew up with summer reading contests at local public libraries, but Penfield Library’s yearlong Reading Contest was brand new when it started this fall (2025). SUNY Oswego students are invited to enter the contest by reading any book they choose and filling out a short Google Form.

Nominations open for service on Provost and VP for Academic Affairs Search Committee

January 25, 2026

In accordance with Appendix A, Section 1 of the university's Faculty Bylaws, the Personnel Policies Council (PPC) will accept nominations for service on the search committee for the Provost and VP for Academic Affairs. 

Eligibility for faculty and staff to serve is limited to those persons who have served at least one year at Oswego as full-time voting faculty members or full-time professional staff members.
