Rochester LGBTQIA+ film festival has virtual/live viewings, Oswego connection

ImageOut, Rochester's long-standing LGBTQIA+ film festival will run its First Cut Spring Film Festival from April 24 to 29, highlighting LGBTQ+ stories through film and community conversations.

This spring's festival will feature a fresh lineup of films, guest panels and community discussions. A selection of titles will also be available online for those who can’t make the trip to Rochester.

Michele Thornton of SUNY Oswego's School of Business, who serves as board chair for the festival, has recommended two films to look out for:

Men's, women's rugby teams to host 34th annual tournament

April 22, 2025

The Oswego men’s and women’s rugby teams will host their 34th annual Greased Weasel Rugby Tournament on Saturday, April 26, at Hidden Fields from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The first five Oswego students to arrive will receive a free shirt.

The campus community is invited to come enjoy a full day of rugby games, grab some food from the grill and check out exclusive tournament shirts for sale. There will also be a raffle for a custom Oswego rugby ball.

The American Sociological Association’s Teaching Resources and Innovations Library for Sociology (TRAILS) has named Matthew McLeskey, assistant professor of criminal justice at SUNY Oswego, as the editor of the contemporary social problems section.

5th annual Subnivean Awards April 30 hosted by two students

On Wednesday, April 30, SUNY Oswego students Marie Sova and Lily Tringali will cohost the 2025 Subnivean Awards event honoring six international literary competition finalists and naming winners in poetry and fiction. This virtual event, featuring readings by the finalist authors, will be free and open to the general public.

Submissions open for third annual Design Club exhibition

The university's Design Club seeks student submissions for its 3rd annual exhibition in Marano Campus Center Chu Atrium. Students of any major and year can submit up to three pieces via this link by the deadline of April 24.

The opening ceremony will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on April 25. The exhibition will run through May 1.
