Penfield Library offering extended hours

December 2, 2025

Penfield Library has begun extended hours for the last week of classes and finals week.

The campus is invited to come and enjoy the library's study spaces and resources until 2 a.m. Sunday and weeknights.

After library hours, the 24-hour study spaces remain available to current students with your ID card. 

Volunteer ushers sought for December Commencement

The Public Ceremonies Committee is seeking volunteer ushers to welcome graduating students' families, friends and other supporters to the December Commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Ushers help with greetings, directions and helping people with special needs at the ceremony, which begins at 10 a.m. in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall in Marano Campus Center. Ushers are asked to arrive by 8:30 a.m. because doors open at 9. The ceremony is expected to end around noon.

Nominations invited for Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence

SUNY Oswego seeks to recognize its outstanding students through the Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence, the highest honor bestowed upon a student by the State University of New York. The university seeks nominations of students for this year’s award by Dec. 19. Please note that only those students graduating between June 2025 and May 2026 are eligible to be nominated

Investment Club's student-run endowment fund tops $1 million

SUNY Oswego's Investment Club provides students with hands-on opportunities for learning while also managing a large endowment fund that benefits university scholarships. The club-managed fund recently passed $1 million -- showing the success of the program and how it provides the tools for today's students to become the business leaders of tomorrow.

Student research probes the universe’s biggest questions

SUNY Oswego students Shaheen Chowdhury, a physics major, and Elizabeth Behnke, a chemistry major, have spent the past year immersed in a research project that looks at variable stars to understand some of the universe’s deepest questions.

The Oswego Technology Student Association (OTSA) delivered a phenomenal performance at this year’s ​Technology and ​Engineering ​Education​ Collegiate ​Association (TEECA) East Conference, earning top awards across multiple events.

Destress Fest set for Wednesday

Members of the campus community are invited to take a break and recharge at Destress Fest on Wednesday afternoon. 

As the semester wraps up, the Triandiflou Institute will host a relaxing afternoon with games, snacks, music and good company from 1 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 3 in 213A Penfield Library.

Whether people attend for the free food, the care packages or just to unwind, organizers said there will be something for everyone.

Four inducted into German honor society
