2018-19 Season Announcement

SUNY Oswego Theatre is pleased to announce the launch of the 2018-19 season, featuring three modern American classics, as presented by the students and faculty of the department.

The season begins in Fall 2018 with Neil Labute's searing The Shape of Things, directed by Professor Mya Brown. A controversial, insightful look into our modern obsessions with self-image sees mild-mannered student Adam meet his match in Evelyn, a forthright artist unlike anyone he's met before.

Spring 2019 sees two new productions in the Waterman Theatre, beginning with the Blackfriars student honors production of Neil Simon's The Good Doctor, led by an as-yet unannounced student director. Based on a series of short stories by Russian master Anton Chekhov, Neil Simon brings his characteristic wit to explore a series of short, surprising vignettes across the breadth of Russian society.

Finally, for SUNY Oswego Theatre's annual musical, we are pleased to announce a new production of Lisa Kron's and Janine Tesori's Fun Home, the musical adaptation of Alison Bechdel's acclaimed memoir. An often heartbreaking, yet uplifting memory of childhood, regret, and coming of age, Fun Home won the Tony Award for Best New Musical in 2015. Helmed by Professor Jonel Langenfeld, this important, groundbreaking musical is a must-see for 2019.  For more information and ticket details, see https://www.oswego.edu/theatre/stage
