SUNY Oswego offers programs celebrating Engineering Week

In conjunction with National Engineers Week and upon launching a year-long celebration of the SUNY Oswego’s Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) program and department’s 10-year anniversary, the university will offer a variety of events for its inaugural Engineering Week: The future flows through Oswego, Feb. 20 to 24.

Student storytelling performances Feb. 23 to showcase expressive arts as therapy

Two storytelling performances on Thursday, Feb. 23, will showcase the work of students in SUNY Oswego’s expressive arts therapy minor while showing storytelling’s power in helping the healing process.

ASAP presentation to discuss financial aid, student accounts

February 15, 2023

The Adult Student Assistance Program (ASAP), designed to help adult learners connect with SUNY Oswego and other students, will host a virtual presentation on financial aid and student accounts at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28. 

Online registration via this form is recommended.

Representatives of these offices will meet virtually with attendees and answer questions.

Deadlines approaching for December 2023 graduates

February 14, 2023

Undergraduate students who will be graduating as of December 2023 and who have not yet filed online to graduate should do so as soon as possible. Undergraduates who will complete requirements in the fall 2023 semester should file no later than Saturday, April 1, 2023, for their name to be listed in the commencement program.

Penfield Library accepting applications for University Impact Collections Grant

Penfield Library is taking applications for grants of up to $500 each awarded to faculty and professional staff for the selection of materials supporting professional development, scholarly activity, program/course curriculum needs or student success. Grant applications are due March 10, 2023.

I Am Oz series to feature leader in transgender rights litigation and advocacy

SUNY Oswego's I Am Oz Diversity Speaker Series will host Chase Strangio, deputy director for transgender justice for the ACLU's LGBTQ and HIV Project, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, in the Marano Campus Center auditorium.

History Department Talk to feature lead historian for U.S. Congress Naming Commission

February 13, 2023

A History Department Talk by Connor Williams, lead historian for the United States Congress Naming Commission, will address "'Making Treason Odious Again': Perspectives from the Naming Commission and the Army's War on the Lost Cause."

The event, free and open to the campus community, will take place at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, in 201 Marano Campus Center.

Wednesday session offered for commuters/off-campus students

The Office of the Dean Students will host an informational session for off-campus and commuter students from 4:15 to 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, in the Marano Campus Center auditorium (Room 132). 

Presenters will provide resources and legal information (leases, living off campus, helpful legal tips and financial awareness/knowledge) for students who live off campus and students who will transition from on-campus to off-campus living.

‘From Suarez’s Basement’ wins international educational podcasting award

Communication studies faculty member Francisco Suarez won the 2022 Silver Signal Award for his podcast “From Suarez’s Basement,” where he goes in depth on the behind the scenes of visual storytelling.
