The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the premier worldwide Human Resources professional organization, has recognized that SUNY Oswego's School of Business human resource management curriculum aligns with the competencies and subject knowledge required for graduates to succeed in the field.

SHRM defines human resource education standards taught in university business schools. SUNY Oswego completed a comprehensive review process that demonstrated that courses align with 29 critical HR competencies and subject matter areas.

The SHRM recognition is the first pillar of the university's comprehensive HRM curriculum review. The other two pillars are benchmarking 28 peer, competitive and aspirant universities, and an HRM Program Advisory Group critical analysis. The Program Advisory Group consists of 10 field professionals ranging from entry-level to vice president HR professionals. The SUNY Oswego SHRM chapter student officers also weighed in.

"I'm very proud of the faculty and teaching assistants that work so hard to prepare our students with the knowledge and skills needed in today's work environment," said Barry A. Friedman, the School of Business human resource management major leader and faculty advisor for the student SHRM chapter. "This is but one step in pursuit of our School of Business mission to prepare students as competent and ethical professionals."
