We are pleased to announce there will be a livestream of President Peter Nwosu’s inaugural State of the University Address at 10 a.m. today (Thursday, Sept. 28) for those who are unable to join us in person. The address will stream live via the State of the University address website, and will originate from Tyler Hall’s Waterman Theatre.

The Office of Student Orientation and Family Engagement is proud to announce Family and Friends Weekend, which will take place from Friday, October 20, to Sunday, October 22.

Featuring events hosted by a variety of departments, Family and Friends Weekend has been designed with guests of all ages in mind.

On Sunday, Oct. 1, the SUNY Oswego women’s club soccer team will host Cortland on the Laker Turf Stadium at 11 a.m.

This is their final home game of the season and will also be their Senior Game.

All Laker students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to gather at 12:45 p.m. for a 1 p.m. photo this Friday, Sept. 29, in celebration of Green and Gold Day.

Wear your green and/or gold and meet at the brick circle on the academic quad for a group picture, followed by free green and gold cookies and lemonade in the Marano Campus Center food and activity court in celebration of Edward Austin Sheldon's 200th birthday. All Laker students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited this Friday, Sept. 29, at 10 a.m. in 133 Marano Campus Center for a special presentation, "Honoring Our Founder: The Life and Legacy of Edward Austin Sheldon," led by Sheldon scholar, Syracuse City School District high school teacher and SUNY Oswego adjunct professor Don Little '91 M'94 M'15.

The campus community is invited to save the date to participate in the university's 1861 Giving Challenge.

It will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 4 — one week from today — and the effort needs your help.

Dr. Thomas Mahl ’80 will donate $60,000 to Oswego if 861 people make a gift in 1,861 minutes. The challenge clock begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4 (the 200th birthday of Edward Austin Sheldon), and runs until 3:01 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5.

The Adult Student Assistance Program (ASAP) will sponsor an online session tonight (Wednesday, Sept. 27) at 7 p.m. for those looking to learn more about the university's Office of Learning Services (OLS) and Penfield Library.

These are two helpful resources on campus and available online, and this session will let students know the best way to take advantage of all OLS and the library have to offer. The session will include opportunities to connect with staff who can help.

CTS Cyberbits is a monthly column on Cybersecurity that contains information on how to protect yourself online and new emerging threats to be aware of. In this month’s edition, Campus Technology Services will cover the topic of shared living safety.

The student-led, student run Rich 'N' Pour Cafe in Rich Hall is now open for the fall semester.

Completely run by business students, the cafe offers a variety of baked goods, quick bites and refreshing coffees and teas. The campus community is invited to support these student entrepreneurs. Check out this story to learn more about the cafe project, which launched in spring 2023.
