Thank you to all those who participated in our "Inspired by Nature" silent art auction and art weekend activities at Rice Creek. The silent auction concluded at 4 pm on Saturday, Oct 22. We appreciate the generosity of those who donated and bid on artwork in support of the installation of a commissioned sculpture by a SUNY Oswego student artist. Join us on Nov 12 to see the sculpture "Harmony" revealed!

Did I Win?

All winning bidders were contacted by 5 pm on Sat, Oct 22. Please note that a few last-minute bids occurred at 3:59 pm that were never entered in our online system. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. 

Event Details

Celebrate Family and Friends Weekend at Rice Creek with our "Inspired by Nature" silent art auction and related activities, featuring live music, refreshments, children's art activities, and a guided nature walkA variety of artistic media and creative interpretations will be represented, with all works fitting the theme "Inspired by Nature." The auction features works donated by local artists and collectors, and proceeds will support the installation of a commissioned sculpture in the Ruth Sachidanandan Herb Garden by SUNY Oswego art student Kayla Kitchener. Bids can be placed in person or by calling the field station (315.312.6677) during the event - see below for more details.

Schedule

Friday, October 21 & Saturday, October 22:

  • Silent auction: Fri 2-5pm & Sat 1-4pm
  • Children's art activities: Sat 1-4pm, drop-by activities for "littles" (ages 2-6) led by our amazing volunteer Kathy King, and leaf printing for older children by Rice Creek Naturalist Linda Knowles
  • Guided Nature Walk: Sat 11am
  • Live music: Friday 2-4pm, Rose & the Amateurs will provide songs from many genres, especially the singer-songwriter tradition. Saturday 2-4pm, Syracuse Irish Session will share the dance music of Ireland presented in a traditional style.
  • Refreshments: Ongoing. Complimentary refreshments including coffee, tea, cider, and cider doughnuts
  • Payment and pickups: Sat 4-5 pm, or Sun 1-3 pm, or the following week as needed. Payment by cash or check only.

Parking & Transportation

A van shuttle will be available for students interested in attending the event. Students can request a shuttle pickup by calling 315-312-6677 or emailing rcfs@oswego.edu.

For those driving to the event, we encourage you to park at Fallbrook for overflow parking. A van will be running back and forth to this parking area.
