Curriculum and Instruction Student Teaching

Undergraduate CED and ADO C&I majors will complete one full-time, 14-week placement over the course of a semester (Fall or Spring). MST ADO, CED, and undergraduate TESOL candidates will complete a one-year residency experience over the academic year (Fall and Spring).

Registration and Tk20 Application

The semester prior to student teaching, applicants must register for student teaching through myOswego the same way you register for all classes. You must also complete and submit a student teaching application through Tk20, including a cover letter and resume.

Tk20 Application Deadlines

What Tk20 application should you complete?  You will receive that direction from your faculty advisor or the Clinical Practice and Partnerships Office.  Please feel free to call the Clinical Practice and Partnerships Office with questions about the application process.

Before submitting your resume and cover letter in TK20 we suggest proofreading your application materials thoroughly. These documents provide a first impression of your professionalism and potential. In the past, some applicants have been rejected due to grammar and spelling errors. It is also strongly encouraged that you visit Career Services in 145 Marano Campus Center to review both your cover letter and resume.

Please be mindful of all your social media accounts. Be certain that if a prospective cooperating teacher searches for you, they only find evidence of your professionalism.

Changing Information

Any changes in your contact information, including name, address, phone number, or email address, should be reported to the Clinical Practice and Partnerships Office. Please notify the Clinical Practice and Partnerships Office about any changes immediately, either by email (cppoffice@oswego.edu) or by phone 315.312.3098.

Orientation

Student Teaching Orientation is mandatory for all student teaching candidates. Candidates should read and be familiar with the student teaching handbook prior to orientation.

Visit the C&I Student Teaching Resources page for key information, dates, resources, and documents needed to guide you through the student teaching experiences.

Schedule

Student teaching candidates are to follow the vacation/holiday schedule of the district that they are student teaching in, not the SUNY Oswego vacation/holiday schedule.
