OVERVIEW
Take a photo from anywhere in any Residence Hall or Village community building.
4 ways to win from 3 categories!
- Best photo of the "Awesomest Room".
- Best photo "Anywhere in or around a residential community" (such as any lounge, kitchen, laundry area, hallway etc.
- "Best ResLife Event" photo.
- "Best Overall Photo" will win the Grand Prize plus one of the 4 Gift Certificates.
Note! Images will be disqualified if they depict any policy violation, prohibited items, or is inappropriate or offensive. Residence Life and Housing has the right to decide if an image is disqualified for these or any other reason.

No Place Like OZ! Rules
Enter for a chance to WIN prizes, AND of course, BRAGGING RIGHTS! We are looking for the most creative and unique photos that show off life on SUNY Oswego’s campus and represent how you live, your creativity, and LAKER spirit.
TIMELINE
- Submissions accepted: Friday, September 28 through Friday, December 7 at 12 p.m. (via email to NoPlaceLikeOZ@oswego.edu).
- Photos will be publicized on any or all of our 3 Social Media Accounts: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. (Be sure to submit your Twitter handle and/or Instagram and Facebook names so we can tag you!)
- Winners announced: Wednesday, December 12th. YOU could be going home for Winter Recess a winner!
HOW TO ENTER
- Decorate and set up your room with your roommate(s), or capture some great moments in or around a residential community. We encourage you to be creative, pay attention to detail, and make sure the room expresses you and your Laker spirit. Remember, we’ll be judging on your creativity, not how much you own. Let your space shine! Make sure any people (if you choose to include them) in your photos understand their image will be publicly displayed.*
- Submit your best photo(s) by emailing them to NoPlaceLikeOZ@oswego.edu. Watch for your entry via #NoPlaceLikeOZ.
- Make sure to LIKE Residence Life and Housing “@ResLifeOswego” on Facebook, or FOLLOW “@OswegoResLife” on Twitter and Instagram.
- Watch for your photo(s) to post (via #NoPlaceLikeOZ). We will tag the submitter (Be sure to submit your Twitter handle and/or Instagram and Facebook names so we can tag you!) of the photo so you can share it with all of your Laker friends and family. Encourage them to like your photos and help you in pursuit of the ultimate No Place Like OZ grand prize (we will consider the number of likes when choosing winners).
WINNING IMAGES will be limited to:
- Best photo of the "Awesomest ROOM": Your room expresses your personality and who you are... a LAKER! The organization, decorations and accents, such as bedding, wall decorations, and desk supplies, tell a story about your likes, your values, and your background. You have truly made your home at Oswego because “There’s No Place Like OZ”!
- Best photo "ANYWHERE in or around a residence hall / community" (such as any lounge, kitchen, laundry area, hallway, lobby, outside near a ResLife building, etc.)
- "Best ResLife EVENT Photo" at any ResLife event taking place in or around a residence hall / community.
- "Best Overall Photo" will win the Grand Prize plus one of the 4 College Bookstore Gift Certificates. The winning image will be from any of the 3 categories.
Please note that for this contest we had to change the categories due to lack of photo submissions.
3 PRIZES + 1 GRAND PRIZE WINNER = 4 CHANCES to WIN!
- Best Overall Grand Prize Winner: $100 + $25 College Store gift certificates (Please note a change with the Room Selection process as of 12/10/18; housing deposits will no longer be required. Therefore we will award the Grand Prize winner with the same amount in a College Store Gift Certificate.)
- (3) 2nd place winners will receive a $25 College Store gift certificate.
RULES & ELIGIBILITY
- All entries must be submitted by the deadline, Friday, December 7 at 12 p.m. to be eligible to win.
- Entrants must be current SUNY Oswego students.
- Entrants must “like” or follow any 1 of 3 Residence Life and Housing’s social media pages before their entries will be posted (Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter).
- All recognizable people in any photo must agree for you to share their image for the contest.
- Only photos taken between the dates of September 28, 2018 and December 7, 2018 in or around the residential communities at SUNY Oswego are eligible for submission.
- Images will be disqualified if they depict any policy violation, prohibited item(s), or is inappropriate or offensive. Residence Life and Housing has the right to decide if an image is disqualified for these or any other reason.
- By entering the contest, participants agree to the use of their photographs and names to be used by SUNY Oswego in electronic and print publications, social media, promotional videos, and other multimedia. Finalists will be contacted by Residence Life regarding a photograph of them with their winning certificates for announcements and publication.
- Photographs and entries must be 100% original content. Photographs that are stolen, copied, or violate copyright or intellectual property laws will be disqualified.
- Residence Life and Housing reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the operation of the promotion of this contest, or violating these rules in any way.
*Residence Life and Housing is NOT RESPONSIBLE for any photo of a person who does not wish to have their image used in any way either digitally, printed, or other.
