Spring 2022 Events

Warm Winter Clothing Drive | Jan 17 - 31

We are partnering with SUNY Oswego SHOP (Students Helping Oz Peers) to hold a Warm Winter Clothing Drive for our student population. We kindly request your assistance in collecting new or gently used (clean) coats/jackets, hats, gloves/mittens, and scarves.

    • Donations can also be brought to SHOP after making an appointment at shop@oswego.edu

How to Participate

Valentine's Day Candy Sale | Jan 19 - Feb 4

Satisfy your sweet tooth while helping others this Valentine's Day. We are partnering with Stone's Candies to offer beautiful boxes filled with three shaped pieces of homemade, solid milk chocolate for $12 per box. Quantities are limited so order early!

Spring Flower Sale | Mar 1 - 11

Bring home some cheer with our spring flower sale, featuring big 6" pots of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, Easter lilies, and chrysanthemums in a variety of colors. These high-quality plants are provided by Chuck Hafner's garden center in North Syracuse.

Yards for Yeardley Supply Drive | Apr 1 - 30

Once again we are partnering with the college’s Title IX office and the It’s On Oz program to collect health and hygiene products to support those who have fled domestic and sexual violence and are utilizing Oswego County Opportunity's SAF (Services to Aid Families) program services.

How to Participate

Drop off supplies in collection boxes around campus – boxes can be found in most buildings. Contact your building representative to find out where your building's box is located.

Children's Book Drive | Apr 1 - 30

We are proud to continue our partnership with the Oswego Bookmobile by hosting our second annual Children’s Book Drive. The Oswego Bookmobile provides books, free of charge, to children in our community during the summer months to support and encourage reading. From now through April 30 we are accepting donations of new and like-new books for children ages
3-18.

  • Apr 1-30 - book drive with collection boxes in most campus buildings as well as the river's end bookstore, Oswego YMCA, Oswego Public Library, and Oswego Elks Lodge

How to Participate

Drop off new and like-new books in collection boxes around campus and the city (see list above). While all books are welcome, Bookmobile does have a wishlist of high-need books, and you can use the links below to order these books directly from the river's end bookstore or Amazon.

PINK Day & Pink the Rink | Oct 22 - 23

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in recognition, we are hosting PINK Day and Pink the Rink. Activities start on Friday, Oct 22 with tabling, giveaways, a pink mask sale, and a group photo at Marano Campus Center as well as a $5 jeans Friday. Auxiliary Services is also joining PINK Day by offering a complimentary brownie/cookie with another purchase for anyone wearing pink or a pink ribbon! Then, on Saturday, Oct 23, we'll "pink the rink" at the women's ice hockey game, raffling off a pink Laker ice hockey jersey!

    • 11am - 1pm, Marano Campus Center Food Activities Court - tabling with pink giveaways and pink Laker ice hockey jersey raffle (1 ticket for $5 or 3 tickets for $12. Link forthcoming). Pink disposable masks will be for sale, 1 for $2 or 3 for $5.
    • 12:25pm - group photo at Marano Campus Center food court, followed by a walk through the quad. Wear your pink!

Food, Supply, & Toy Drive (for humans and pets!) | Oct 23 - Dec 3

'Tis the season for giving, and once again we are hosting a food, toy, and supply drive for both humans and pets in time for distribution by the holidays. All donated goods will go to United Way of Greater Oswego County for distribution in the Oswego area.

Bake Off | Oct 25, Nov 1, Nov 8

It's the Great SUNY Oswego Bake Off! Calling all bakers and tasters to participate in one of four bake-offs on three separate dates in October and November. It's building against building in this friendly and tasty competition, culminating in a prize for the best 'conventional' baked good and a separate prize for the best 'special' baked good: vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, nut-free, etc.  

This year's prize: a Wilton 9-piece baking set that is non-stick, navy blue, and diamond-infused:

Thanksgiving Pie Sale | Oct 25 - Nov 8

Satisfy your sweet tooth – or your Thanksgiving guests' – with a fresh-baked pie from Ontario Orchards. This year's flavors include pumpkin, appleumpkin, apple, apple crumb, cherry, and blueberry. Pies will be pre-baked and include proper storage instructions. Pies can also be purchased and donated to the Human Concerns food pantry.

How to Participate

  • Donate a basket: Create a gift basket to donate which we can raffle off. Often people team up with family, friends, or colleagues to make a dynamite basket. Use the basket submission form when you are ready. Contact Shelly Sloan (below) with questions.
  • Buy tickets: buy tickets for baskets in person (see dates and times above) or online starting Nov 8, at 9 am:
  • Remember:
    • $1 per chance
    • Someone can only win one basket (the first one drawn).
    • If you'd rather see baskets in person, come to MCC on November 17 and 18 from 10am-3pm.  Cash only for in-person sales.
    • Virtual chances must be paid for by 11/12/21 at 5pm to be entered into the drawing on 11/18

SUNY Oswego Talent Showcase | Nov 10

Enjoy an evening of entertainment at Curtis Manor, as you listen to your colleagues showcase their performance talents. There is a suggested donation of $5 to attend (cash or credit card). Attendees can purchase dinner (ziti, salad, dinner roll) for $13 and can also purchase Curtis Manor's signature drinks — cash only.

SUNY Oswego Toy Drive | Nov 15 - Dec 10

Once again this year, SUNY Oswego (in conjunction with Oswego County Children's Fund and SEFA) is soliciting your help in making sure each child in Oswego County has a gift to open during the holiday season. Those who wish to contribute can pick an ornament off the trees located throughout campus and return unwrapped gifts before the pick-up dates: Dec 3 and Dec 10.

Teddy Bear Toss | Nov 20 - Dec 4

The best way to donate toys to Toys for Tots? By tossing bears on the ice during a hockey game! You can "live toss" new teddy bears at a men's or women's ice hockey game (dates below), or you can donate online to the cause and we'll do the tossing.
