Warm Winter Clothing Drive | Jan 29 - Feb 9

We are partnering with SUNY Oswego SHOP (Students Helping Oz Peers) to hold a Warm Winter Clothing Drive for our student population. We kindly request your assistance in collecting new or gently used (clean) coats/jackets, hats, gloves/mittens, and scarves.

    • Donation boxes located in many campus buildings

    • Donations can also be brought to SHOP after making an appointment at shop@oswego.edu

How to Participate

Stop by a campus drop-off site or make an appointment with SHOP (shop@oswego.edu) and drop off new or gently used (clean) warm winter clothes.

Souper Bowl Food Drive | Feb 9 - 16

Show some love for your community by donating to the Human Concerns Food Pantry this February. This time of year -- from January to March -- their supplies are lowest. SEFA is partnering with Human Concerns and Laker Men's Ice Hockey collect much-needed items for our local pantry. Donate items at a hockey game during White Out Weekend, or drop off supplies on campus the following week.

Date & Location

  • Friday, Feb 9 at 7 pm & Saturday, Feb 10 at 7 pm: attend the White Out (Souper Bowl) Weekend Men's Ice Hockey games at the Deborah F. Stanley Arena & Convocation Center and donate goods at donation boxes.
  • Monday, Feb 12 - Friday, Feb 16: donate goods at collection boxes throughout campus.
  • Online: make an online donation Feb 9 - 16 via the SEFA Cashnet Storefront. Every $2 you donate provides a meal for one person. Every $6 provides a full day's meals for one person.

How to Participate

Donate online or bring items to an online campus box or one of the hockey games listed above. Needed items include:

  • Protein soups (at least 7 g of protein per serving)
  • Luncheon meat (Spam/Corned Beef)
  • Vienna Sausages
  • Whole grain cereals
  • Oatmeal (canister or pouches)
  • Granola bars

Stuff-A-Bus | Aug 7-18

Once again SEFA is collecting school supplies to support United Way's annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign, which provides supplies to children in need in Oswego County’s nine school districts.

We're teaming up with Fajita Grill to offer a Food Vendor Night in which your purchase of food supports the SUNY Oswego SEFA Campaign!

Totally Teal Tuesdays | Aug 23 - Sept 5 & Sept 19

With September as National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and in honor of late employee Mary Gosek, we are hosting our annual fundraising and awareness campaign. Through September 5, we'll be selling apparel to support Peaceful Remedies -- a local organization founded by Gosek that aims to holistically improve the healing experiences of those with life-altering illnesses. A gathering and walk of remembrance will take place at noon on Tuesday, September 19.

Pink Day & Pink the Rink | Sep 29 - Oct 27

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in recognition, we are hosting Pink Day and Pink the Rink. Activities include:

  • An apparel sale throughout October ($20 hoodie and $15-$18 t-shirt)
  • "Pink the Rink" women's ice hockey game on Saturday, October 21 at 2 pm
  • Pink Day on Friday, October 27, with various activities (see below)

    • 2 pm, Deborah F. Stanley Arena & Convocation Center (in Marano Campus Center) - pink jersey raffle (tickets $5 each or $12 for three), prize basket raffle (tickets $1 each or $5 for six tickets) - prize baskets, and breast cancer awareness information
  • Pink Day: Friday, Oct 27
    • Activities in the Marano Campus Center Food Activities Court:
      • OCO Cancer Services will be available to share information about services and resources

      • 12:15 pm group photo in the MCC food court

      • Tabling with pink giveaways

      • Take a chance on a raffle basket: $1 per ticket or 6 tickets for $5

      • Purchase raffle tickets for a pink hockey jersey: $5 each or 3 for $12

      • Auxiliary Services will provide a complementary cookie or brownie to anyone wearing pink who purchases an item at Palates, Cutting Board, Laker Express, or Crossroads.

      • $5 donation to wear jeans with your pink (and green and gold!)

      • We have a very limited amount of winter beanie hats available for $15 each

      • We will have body butters and sugar scrubs available for purchase as well.

How to Participate

  • View and purchase apparel (tees and hooded sweatshirts) here. Orders placed by Oct 13 will be available for pickup on Pink Day - Oct 27. Orders placed after Oct 13 will be available at a later date.
  • Attend the Laker women's ice hockey game on Oct 21 at 2 pm and help us "pink the rink" by wearing pink and purchasing raffle tickets for our prize baskets
  • Participate in any of the activities listed above on Pink Day, Oct 27 occurring in the Marano Campus Center Food and Activities Court

Bake Off | Oct 23 & 30

It's the Great SUNY Oswego Bake Off! Calling all bakers and tasters to participate in one of four bake-offs on two separate dates in October. It's building against building in this friendly and tasty competition, culminating in a prize for the best "people's choice" baked good at each sale (4 total) and a certificate to the baked good selected by our guest judge panel at each sale (4 total).

How to Participate

  • Bake: we can't have a bake-off without bakers! Please contact your area rep below if you are willing to bake an item. We are especially in need of vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, etc. baked goods. The date you participate corresponds with your building:

No Shave November | Nov 1 - 30

Each year, University Police participates in No Shave November. We're teaming up to raise money to support Blessings in a Backpack. This local charity supplies food to over 400 children in the Oswego School District for the entire school year. The donations UP collects will help boost Blessings in a Backpack's funding to supply more food to more children in the county. $114 feeds a child for the entire school year, but any donation amount helps!

  • Nov 1 - 30: Tabling with gift card raffles (dates and times TBA)
  • Nov 18 at 7 pm: Tabling at the Laker men's hockey game, selling chances on a jersey

Baskets of Caring | Nov 6 - 15

Our most anticipated event of the year is back in a hybrid format! Purchase raffle tickets online or in-person for beautiful themed gift baskets donated by members of SUNY Oswego and the surrounding community. This is one event you don't want to miss!

Date & Location

  • Online viewing & sales: Nov 6-12. See below for links and details.
  • In-person viewing & sales: Nov 14 & 15 (Tues & Wed), 10 am – 3 pm, Marano Campus Center (outside the auditorium)
  • Live basket drawings at 3 pm on Wednesday, Nov 15 in the basket viewing area of MCC — attend in-person or view live, streamed on the SUNY Oswego SEFA Facebook page.

How to Participate

  • Donate a basket: Create a gift basket to donate which we can raffle off. Often people team up with family, friends, or colleagues to make a dynamite basket. Basket photos and descriptions should be submitted by Nov 1 via Google form. For questions, contact Shelly Sloan (below). Baskets can be dropped off to Judy Roik in Campus Events and Conference Services (135 Campus Center) between Nov 6 and Nov 10.  Please make sure the Google form is filled out prior to dropping off the basket.

  • Buy tickets: buy tickets ($1 each) for baskets in person at Marano Campus Center (Nov 14 & 15, 10 am - 3 pm) or online (Nov 6, 9 am - Nov 12, 11:59 pm)
    • For online purchases, first browse the baskets
    • Then, use our Google form to select the baskets you'd like to take a chance on
    • Finally, pay for your chances using our secure Cashnet system. 
    • Note: virtual chances MUST be paid for by 5pm on Monday, November 13 to be eligible to win.

  • Remember:
    • $1 per chance
    • New this year: winning multiple baskets is possible! The first name drawn for each basket wins the basket.
    • If you'd rather see baskets in person, come to MCC on November 14 and 15 from 10 am-3 pm. Cash only for in-person sales.
    • Baskets cannot be shipped: someone must pick them up in person by Nov 17.

Teddy Bear Toss | Nov 18 & Dec 8

The best way to donate toys to Toys for Tots? By tossing bears on the ice during a hockey game! You can "live toss" new teddy bears at a men's or women's ice hockey game (dates below), or you can donate online to the cause and we'll do the tossing.

SUNY Oswego Toy Drive | Nov 27 - Dec 14

Once again this year, SUNY Oswego (in conjunction with Oswego County Children's Fund and SEFA) is soliciting your help in making sure each child in Oswego County has a gift to open during the holiday season. Last year, over 800 local families were supported through this program. Those who wish to contribute can pick an ornament off the trees located throughout campus and return unwrapped gifts by Dec 8, the pickup date.

  • Nov 27 - Dec 14, campus-wide locations: Culkin Hall, Poucher Hall, Tyler Hall, Shineman Center, Park/Wilber Halls, Sheldon Hall, Penfield Library, Mahar Hall, Marano Campus Center, Sheldon Hall, Parking Office, Laker Hall, Lanigan Hall, and Rich Hall

How to Participate

  • Choose one or more ornaments off the trees located throughout campus (full list forthcoming below). Purchase the items and drop them off unwrapped between Nov 27 and Dec 8.
  • If you would prefer to participate with a monetary donation, checks (made out to Auxiliary Services - Toy Drive) may be sent to Cathy Johnston at 702 Culkin Hall.
  • Volunteers are needed the week of Dec 11 to sort toys as well as for the distribution on Dec 18 in Swetman Gym. Use this link or contact Cathy Johnston (below) to sign up.

Holiday Skate | Dec 10

Holiday Skate with the Lakers men's and women's hockey teams is coming back this year! Kids and adults alike will have the chance to skate with SUNY Oswego's players and meet Santa. The event will also feature chances to win a Laker hockey jersey. Skate rentals are available. Proceeds support the United Way of Greater Oswego County.

  • Attend the holiday skate - $3 admission
