SUNY Oswego student author Heaven Santiago has published a poetry book with a different take on the season titled “Hectic Holidays.”

This year’s Lifetime holiday movie written by SUNY Oswego creative writing faculty member Juliet Giglio and her husband Keith is “Reba McEntire’s Christmas in Tune,” premiering at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26.

SUNY Oswego student Heaven Santiago’s first book of poetry, “Go to Hell, Heaven,” presents a journey through a lot of troubled times but ultimately tells a tale of resiliency.

Three faculty members earned campus awards recognizing outstanding achievements in scholarly and creative activities.

SUNY Oswego’s Living Writers Series returns in fall 2021 in a virtual format featuring writers working in comic books, TV, film, novels, non-fiction, poetry and more.

Health promotion and wellness faculty member Jessica Harris earned this year’s President’s Award for Teaching Excellence. In addition, Kenneth Nichols -- a visiting instructor and Writing Fellow in English and creative writing -- earned the Provost’s Award for Teaching Excellence.

“Lemony Snicket” author Daniel Handler, April Sinclair (whose book, "Coffee Will Make You Black," is about to become a major motion picture) and luminary poet Arisa White will share their knowledge and insights in conversation, hosted by and for SUNY Oswego's community but also made open to the public because of their level of popularity. This virtual chat featuring these Subnivean Awards judges followed by finalists reading their work will mark the first-ever literary competition showcase for the college’s student-run literary publication, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 22.

It’s not common for an undergraduate student to work on a literary magazine that includes submissions from a former U.S. poet laureate and other award winners, but that, Soma Mei Sheng Frazier said, is the beauty of the new offering called Subnivean.

Alexander Griffin knew from early in life he wanted to work in entertainment in some way, but SUNY Oswego showed the way to channel his passion as a cinema and screen studies major.

The annual Oswego Town Rural Cemetery: Ghost and History Storytelling Tour will appear virtually this year, with a total of five online showings from Nov. 27 to 29.
