New app to support student classroom connections, collaborations

SUNY Oswego is launching a pilot project of a new app, CircleIn, to promote student connection and collaboration within classes to support student success.

“It’s a peer-to-peer app that provides additional support and connections for our students,” said Joey Tse, interim director of the Office of Learning Services. It is intended to supplement the efforts of faculty members, tutors and others -- while also empowering students and creating networks.

EOP seeking applications for summer peer leaders; deadline Friday

The college's Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is currently accepting applications for those students interested in pursuing a peer leader position for the 2021 EOP Summer Program. 

This position is a five-week, live-in position reporting to the EOP directorAll peer leaders will live on-campus with the EOP freshman during the summer program, unless it is offered on a virtual platform. If virtual, on-campus housing is not provided. 

CTS offers Zoom authentication, licensing and security updates

Campus Technology Services reported that Zoom received several updates on Thursday, including a new authentication that uses your campus credentials, licenses configured for all employees and students and the authentication feature to attend meetings turned on by default.

With the start of the spring semester, Student Association invites student to the Virtual Involvement Fair, which will run 2 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, via LakerLife

“This is a great opportunity to get to know all the clubs and organizations we have on campus and a great way to meet and connect with new students,” said Lizeth Ortega-Ramirez, president of the Student Association.

The Oswego Alumni Association will accept nominations for the 2021 Outstanding Senior Award coming this spring semester. This honor recognizes a senior student who has excelled in involvement on campus and academic excellence during his or her time at SUNY Oswego. All students graduating in 2021, including this May, August and December, are eligible to be nominated for this year’s award.
