QPR training offered to support suicide prevention

QPR Gatekeeper Training -- a suicide prevention training program that equips anyone with the framework to have difficult, but possibly life-saving, conversations -- will provide a virtual training opportunity from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27.

QPR stands for "Question, Persuade, Refer," three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide.

Jennifer Knapp and Lisa Glidden will be the certified QPR instructors for the Feb. 27 session, which will be held via Zoom.

Write Ways series to present 'Writing Scholarship Applications'

History faculty member Lyn Blanchfield will present "Writing Scholarship Applications" at 3 p.m., Friday, Feb. 19 as part of the college's Write Ways Series.

This interactive workshop will focus on techniques and tricks for completing scholarship applications for study abroad (like the Gilman, the Boren, and the Freeman-Asia Scholarships) and SUNY Oswego scholarships for current students. Please bring any questions or concerns you have to share.

Village housing selection 2021-22 closes Sunday

The Village housing application for 2021-22 will close Feb. 14 for these on-campus townhouse apartments. The application is available at myhousing.oswego.edu.

Students who complete the application will be able to match with mates and select a townhouse during the Village lotteries.

College declares today (Feb. 10) a Remote Instruction Day; COVID testing center is open

Due to adverse weather conditions, SUNY Oswego has declared today (Wednesday, Feb. 10) a “remote” instruction day.  All face-to-face and hybrid classes will be taught online as per your faculty’s instructions.  Online courses continue as normal.  This applies to classes on the SUNY Oswego main campus and at our Syracuse campus.

Symposium to explore ‘Sportsmanship During a Pandemic’, other topics

SUNY Oswego’s 13th annual Sportsmanship Day Symposium invites submissions from members of the campus community for its first-ever virtual edition on Thursday, March 4.

Students, faculty and staff are welcome to present at this symposium by contacting the campus event’s founder and coordinator, sociology professor Tim Delaney, via email at Tim.Delaney@oswego.edu. The program will begin at 2:30 p.m. on March 4.
