Reception to celebrate the return of Flags of Nations

SUNY Oswego will celebrate the return of its Flags of Nations installation with a campus reception today (Friday, Sept. 30) in the Marano Campus Center. 

Van driver training sessions begin next week

Van driver training sessions will begin in early October for students interested in operating college-owned 12-passenger vans for various events and activities.

SUNY Oswego policy requires that in order to operate these vans, students must be 18 years of age, possess a valid U.S. driver’s license, and complete a driver training session. This includes students who are responsible for transporting persons in the vans for departmental purposes such as academic field trips, residence life and housing programs, athletic contests, and community service.

Facilities Services launching new work request portal ReADY Request

SUNY Oswego's Facilities Services team is pleased to announce the launch of a new work order system, including a new request portal soon to be available to the campus community. The new portal, ReADY Request, will replace the existing iService Desk, and will provide users better tools to submit, track and update work requests.

Activities, deadlines ahead for Campus Recreation events

Deadlines and events are coming soon in a series of activities presented by SUNY Oswego Campus Recreation. 

The campus community is invited to a free Splash-in Movie showing of "Finding Nemo" in the Lee Hall pool from 8 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29. Pizza, popcorn and refreshments will be provided, and no pre-registration is required.

The next ESports tournament will take place on Saturday, Oct. 1, starting at 2 p.m, featuring NBA 2K23. Registration deadline is midnight on Thursday, Sept. 29. 

UP to host Coffee with a Cop on Wednesday

Officers from University Police at SUNY Oswego and community members will come together in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships and drink coffee during Coffee with a Cop from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5.

All community members are invited to attend the event, which will take place next to the Marano Campus Center box office if inclement weather appears.

Broadway star, SUNY Oswego alumnus Tamar Greene to perform Nov. 28

Tamar Greene, a 2009 SUNY Oswego alumnus who appears on Broadway as George Washington in the mega-hit musical “Hamilton,” will return for a concert at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, in Tyler Hall’s Waterman Theatre.

October Is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month; CTS offers resources

Online security continues to be very important as people interact more online in our professional and personal lives. National Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October helps educate people on everyday things that could help make online data more secure as well as shedding light on potential threats that many may not know about.

Everybody doing their part to be informed about good cybersecurity practices can create a more secure and safe online environment.

Advisement Center to hold registration workshops

The Advisement Center will host registration workshops beginning on Monday, Oct. 10 and running until Friday, Oct. 28.

During this time, Advisement Guides will help students understand how to review their degree requirements, use Registration and Planning, as well as browse courses and add them to registration plans. Seats will be available at each workshop on a first-come first-serve basis; no sign-up is required.

Registration workshops will take place at 9, 10 and 11 a.m.; noon; 1 and 2 p.m. on the following days and locations:

1861 Giving Challenge under way

The 1861 Giving Challenge started at 8 a.m. today. Alumni Jeff '92 and Ginger Bray Sorensen '93 are challenging the entire Oswego community to help students by making a gift to The Fund for Oswego.

If 861 people make a gift in 1,861 minutes, they will give the college $100,000.

Gifts to The Fund for Oswego help support student opportunities. You can choose to designate your gift to support a department, program or special interest at the college, or where the need is greatest. It’s all up to you.
