New York State revised guidance and telecommuting update for SUNY Oswego employees working remotely

As announced on May 14, 2021, I shared important information with employees working remotely regarding the transition back to in-person operations effective Tuesday, July 6, 2021. This previously announced transition was due to the expiration of the Pilot Statewide Telecommuting Program at the close of business on Friday, July 2, 2021. This program expiration date remains unchanged.

As we continue to prepare for a robust fall opening, please review the following important information provided below about new guidance from New York State and an update regarding continued limited use of telecommuting.

New York State revised guidance

 Telecommuting update

  • The Governor's Office of Employee Relations (GOER) and SUNY have advised that continued telecommuting may be used on a limited or intermittent basis to accommodate the return-to-work effort through July 31, 2021. During the month of July, SUNY Oswego will adopt and use the previous Statewide Telecommuting Pilot Program provisions.

  • Please note that limited telecommuting arrangements must be coordinated with the employee’s direct supervisor for approval and in consultation with the appropriate area leader or respective vice president. Any decisions for continued telecommuting should be made on a limited basis and in accordance with the operational needs of the work unit. The specific on-campus schedule for the employee is also subject to review and approval.

  • No employee should exclusively telecommute, but rather continue with in-person operations of at least two to three days per week. This aligns with the guidance for the month of June, which was contained in the announcement for the Phased Return to Campus for SUNY Oswego Employees Working Remotely.

The CTS Help Desk will extend borrowed equipment deadlines and be in contact regarding new dates for their return.

As a reminder, continue to review the COVID-19/Oswego Forward website for the most updated information, announcements, and resources. Please continue to work with your supervisory staff and divisional leadership regarding the transition back to full on-campus operations.

Sincerely,

Amy Plotner
