Poster Proposals

The theme for the fall 2012 SUNY-Oswego Symposium on Learning and Teaching is "Writing for the New Millennium."  The focus of this symposium is on how to design engaging and effective writing assignments  that will enhance the communications skills of our students. The Committee on Learning and Teaching is soliciting proposals for poster, paper, or workshop presentations that describe innovative writing assignments. These writing assignments may take a variety of forms:including digital storytelling, social media, wikis, blogs, Storify, video projects, as well as more traditional writing assignments.

Please submit a poster, paper, or workshop proposal using the online submission form by September 15, 2012. This proposal should contain the following:

  1. the name(s) of the presenter(s)
  2. an abstract describing the teaching innovation
  3. the preferred format of the presentation (poster, paper presentation, panel discussion, or workshop)
  4. any special technical requirements required for the presentation.

The abstract should clearly describe the writing assignment that will be presented and should provide a description of the assessment process  of the assignment.

All proposals will be subject to a peer review process conducted by a committee consisting of representatives of COLT and the WAC Committee. Submitters will be notified of the outcome of this review within 5 days of the due date.

The symposium will take place on Friday, October 19 and Saturday, October 20. Poster presentations will take place on Friday, October 19. Papers, panel discussions, and workshops will take place on October 20.
