April is National Deaf History Month. Introduced in 1997 by the National Association of the Deaf (NAD), National Deaf History Month is dedicated to increasing public understanding of the history, language, and culture specific to the deaf and hard-of-hearing people in American communities. 

Seeking students to showcase Laker pride in upcoming marketing photos

SUNY Oswego invites all students to be the stars of upcoming university marketing material. On Thursday, April 18, and Friday, April 19, photographers will capture captivating moments across the picturesque campus for promotional photos — and organizers would love to see Oswego students take center stage.

"Pride and Entrepreneurship" talk presented by Pride Alliance and Career Services

Pride Alliance and Career Services will sponsor a talk titled "Pride and Entrepreneurship" with the co-owners of Blue Salt Air sharing their experiences building businesses and family. The free talk will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, in 232 Marano Campus Center.

Pizza will be available as well.

Two BFA Exhibitions to showcase student talent

A pair of Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Exhibitions in Tyler Art Gallery will showcase work from graduating SUNY Oswego art students.

The first exhibition will run from April 9 through 21, with an artists’ reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 12. The second exhibition will run from April 30 to May 10, with the artists’ reception taking place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 3.

The exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public.

RCA Reflection to discuss 'Ecological Importance of Large Mammalian Carnivores'

The next installment of Rice Creek Associates (RCA) Reflections will discuss "The Ecological Importance of Large Mammalian Carnivores" at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, at Rice Creek Field Station.

Steve Sheffield, a professor in the natural resources department at Bowie State University as well as a SUNY Oswego zoology graduate, will present the free program.

Grit ‘N Wit competition coming Friday

April 1, 2024

The campus community is invited to get a team together for Grit 'N Wit, taking place from 3 to 6 p.m. this Friday, April 5, in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall.

Participants will work together as a team and take on 16+ physical obstacles and mental puzzles for what organizers expect to be a fun afternoon. All participants will be free to opt out of a challenge they are not comfortable trying.  They can assist their teammates or cheer them on for the obstacle they opt out of and then continue on the rest of the way as a team.
