Archaeology field school provides hands-on experiences for students

SUNY Oswego’s archaeology field school led by anthropology faculty member Dr. Alanna Ossa returned this summer as 11 students participated in this year’s dig on a local property.

Employees have opportunity to tour Oswego Lighthouse on Aug. 1

SUNY Oswego employees are offered an opportunity to tour the historic Lighthouse in the Oswego Harbor on Thursday, Aug. 1.

The tour will begin at 2 p.m., and under this special opportunity, SUNY Oswego employees can take a tour of the Oswego Lighthouse for only $20 by registering via the campus box office (regular price is $35). Your time out of the office should be discussed with your supervisor in advance. Employees wishing to attend are responsible for purchasing their tickets.

Penfield Library, WRVO network maintenance scheduled July 26

On Friday, July 26, from 5 to 6 p.m., Campus Technology Services (CTS) will perform network maintenance. Penfield Library and WRVO's wired and wireless connections to the campus network and Internet will be unavailable. During this time, the network will be unavailable for about 15 minutes in Penfield as equipment reboots. Devices such as copiers and printers may require a power cycle if they don't come back online after work is completed.

SUNY Oswego has developed new protocols aimed at bolstering the safety and security of its campus community while reducing the number of calls to the town and city fire departments. Developed through an extensive campus-wide action plan and in collaboration with local fire response partners, these measures will take effect on Aug. 1.
