Adult Student Assistance Program offers series of events

The Adult Student Assistance Program (ASAP) is designed to help adult learners connect with SUNY Oswego and other students.

Every few weeks, join ASAP on Zoom for a fast, fun, jam-packed and interactive session. Representatives from all around SUNY Oswego will be there with tools, tips, resources and information, plus ready to connect and answer any questions.

Attendees can stop into as many sessions as they like. All sessions start at 7 p.m.

Accomplished SUNY Oswego alum Larry Watson to perform ‘American Fruit With African Roots’

January 26, 2023

Larry Watson, a 1974 SUNY Oswego graduate and renowned performer, will present an admission-free evening of emotional music, exploration and recollections at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, in Tyler Hall’s Waterman Theatre and via livestream.

Resident assistant information sessions scheduled

January 26, 2023

Are you interested in finding out how to become a resident assistant (RA) for the 2023-2024 academic year?

Information sessions, all in 104 Lanigan Hall, will take place:

  • Monday, Jan. 30, at 5:30 p.m. 
  • Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 5:30 p.m.

Graduate Studies to host virtual open house on Jan. 31

Graduate Studies will host a virtual open house via Zoom at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

The session will discuss graduate admissions and graduate program offerings.

Admissions Office seeks student tour guides

January 26, 2023

The Office of Admissions is hiring students for the paid tour guide position for the spring 2023 semester.

Due to a heavy load of accepted students for fall 2023, Admissions expects to offer at least eight tours a week for prospective students and families. The pay rate will be $14.20 per hour.

Wonderful news! We have another opportunity to recognize some of our finest at SUNY Oswego via the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Classified Service!

Nominations are open today (Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023) for the 2022-2023 Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Classified Service. Nominations close on Monday, February 20, 2023. Any member of the campus community may nominate an eligible state employee presently serving in a full-time classified service capacity.

Laker student-athletes earn first-place national community service award

Laker student-athletes recently received the NCAA Team Works Community Service Competition award, which recognizes student-athletes’ service to their respective communities through divisional competitions, a national honor among all participating Division III schools.

Faculty/Staff/Student Tailgate set Feb. 3

January 25, 2023

To kick off the spring 2023 semester, the Offices of Student Orientation and Family Engagement, and of Student Engagement and Leadership will host a Faculty/Staff Tailgate from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, in the Marano Campus Center food and activity court.

The event will feature free food, door prizes and an opportunity to meet with faculty, staff and students alike before the men's hockey team takes on Geneseo in the adjacent Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall.
