Penfield Library announces changes to community service procedures

Effective Monday, Feb. 25, Penfield Library is changing its protocol for accepting community service volunteers. The library welcomes and appreciates volunteers within the following parameters:

This year (throughout the spring and fall 2019 semesters), Assistant Professor of Communication Studies Francisco Suárez will lead the production of SUNY Oswego's very first holiday TV special -- an ambitious interdisciplinary collaboration involving students, faculty from the School of Communication, Media and the Arts, and staff from all across our campus. 

Online services outage scheduled for Feb. 23 cancelled

The outage scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23, from 12:01 to 6 a.m. to enhance Internet services at our hosting provider’s data center has been cancelled. This outage was to affect access to Blackboard, Degreeworks and Ensemble Video. These services should now continue to operate normally.

Sisters earn Harlem Fashion Week's 'groundbreakers' award

A closet-cleaning chore spawned an ambitious and growing effort to lend prom dresses to girls who couldn't otherwise afford them, leading to a top award from Harlem Fashion Week for the founding sisters, both seniors at SUNY Oswego.

Deadlines next week for campus award nominations

Nominations for three campus awards are due next Monday, Feb. 25. They include the following:

President's Award for Teaching Excellence 
The President's Award for Teaching Excellence is an annual award granted to a full-time faculty member who has sustained outstanding performance in teaching and who demonstrates an appreciation for the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and passionate work ethic associated with exceptional teaching.

Bacchus Saxophone Quartet to offer wide-ranging performance

The SUNY Oswego music department will present the Bacchus Saxophone Quartet -- performing a wide variety of styles appropriate for all ages and musical tastes -- at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3, in Sheldon Hall ballroom.

Graduation deadlines ahead

February 18, 2019

Undergraduate students who plan to graduate as of December 2019 and who have not yet filed online to graduate should do so as soon as possible. 

Undergraduates who will complete requirements in the fall 2019 semester should file no later than Monday, April 1, 2019, for their name to be listed in the commencement program. To apply for graduation online, students must do the following:

First-ever Grand Challenges Makeathon invites creativity, teamwork

SUNY Oswego’s first ever Grand Challenges Makeathon will take place Feb. 22 to 24 and encourage students to put their talents and interests into action to support the concept of Fresh Water for All.

'Beyond Sacred' to explore experiences of Muslims, post-9/11

SUNY Oswego will present "Beyond Sacred: Voices of Muslim Identity," an interview-style production that illuminates the daily experiences of five young Muslim Americans who came of age in a post-9/11 society, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in Sheldon Hall ballroom.

Mackin Dining Center not open this week

Due to a minor electrical fire in Mackin Dining Center’s serving line area last week, the dining center will not be open Feb. 18 to 21, as Auxiliary Services completes equipment repairs.
