Ambassadors sought for 'SUNY Oswego Admitted Student Zone'

On Feb. 17, the Office of Admissions and campus partners rolled out the "SUNY Oswego Admitted Student Zone," a new virtual platform where admitted and deposited students and their families can engage with each other and the SUNY Oswego community.

Hosted by a campus partner, Wisr, the platform launched following months of groundwork and coordination by Admissions and other departments.

ESPN’s Steve Levy ‘87 to have live Zoom with students on Thursday

Steve Levy, a 1987 Oswego alumnus known for his work with ESPN and "Monday Night Football," will take part in a live Zoom Q&A with students from 12:30 to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25. President Deborah F. Stanley will moderate the session.

Write Ways Series to present 'Professional Email Communication'

English and creative writing faculty member Stephanie Pritchard will present "Professional Email Communication" from 3 to 4 p.m. on Friday, March 5, as part of the Write Ways Series.

This workshop will focus on greetings, content and etiquette while sending emails, both academically and professionally. The session will discuss the do’s and don’ts of appropriate form and style to help you successfully communicate with your professors, peers, and potential employers.

QPR training offered to support suicide prevention

QPR Gatekeeper Training -- a suicide prevention training program that equips anyone with the framework to have difficult, but possibly life-saving, conversations -- will provide a virtual training opportunity from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27.

QPR stands for "Question, Persuade, Refer," three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide.

Jennifer Knapp and Lisa Glidden will be the certified QPR instructors for the Feb. 27 session, which will be held via Zoom.
