Update on Blackboard to Brightspace course migrations

As a reminder, the campus is migrating from Blackboard to Brightspace for the fall 2022 semester. All courses taught with or supplemented by Blackboard will need to migrate. To begin the transition, some pilot courses are being taught in Brightspace over the summer 2022 semester. 

College to observe Daylight Hour on June 22

SUNY Oswego will join many other SUNY campuses and hundreds of organizations around the world on Wednesday, June 22, in an annual campaign to raise awareness of the value of simple daylight to save energy and improve health. 

Members of the college community are asked to switch off lights in day-lit offices, even if in home offices, for one hour at noon on June 22.

Important fiscal year-end financial information provided

As we approach the end of the fiscal year, I would like to remind you of some important information and transactional deadlines that are approaching:

  • All requisitions/purchase orders must be received in the Purchasing Office by close of business on Monday, June 20, 2022 for any/all activity related to 2021-22. This relates to any new orders for goods/services using 2021-22 funding.  Please note, all goods/services for these orders must be received by Aug. 15, 2022.

In the wake of the tragic deaths in a school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, and other recent mass shootings, Jaclyn Schildkraut of the criminal justice faculty has provided her expertise to international, national and regional media outlets, bringing reason and research into a topic that is emotional and, unfortunately, ever timely.

Multi-factor Authentication expands to more campus services

Campus Technology Services (CTS) worked with the campus community this spring semester to add multi-factor authentication (MFA) to certain campus services including Blackboard, Zoom, Office 365, Adobe, Library databases, Administrative Banner and Spectrum U. MFA requires the use of your normal password along with a code sent to an app or phone.

MFA will expand to include more campus services based on the following schedule.

Richardson-Bates House Historic Preservation Field School under way

SUNY Oswego’s Archaeology Field School -- the Richardson-Bates House Historic Preservation Field School) -- under the direction of Oswego anthropology faculty member and archaeologist Alanna Ossa has started digging in for this class during the first two summer sessions.
