Nominate a 2024 senior for award recognition

The Oswego Alumni Association is now accepting nominations for the 2024 Outstanding Senior Award. This honor recognizes a senior student for their exceptional involvement on campus and academic excellence during their time at SUNY Oswego.

All students graduating in May, August or December of 2024 are eligible to apply.

The deadline to nominate is Monday, March 11. To submit a nomination, please visit alumni.oswego.edu/osa24.

Seeking submissions for art exhibition spanning eclipse

Members of the campus community are invited to submit artwork for consideration for “Looking Up,” a special exhibition running April 4 to 10 in Tyler Hall’s second-floor corner art gallery around the total solar eclipse on April 8.

The deadline for submissions is March 25, with both 2D & 3D work accepted. No fee is required to submit. 

Campus Rec sets bench press, glow dodgeball events for Friday

On Friday, Feb. 23, Campus Recreation will host a pair of unique events in a bench press competition and glow dodgeball.

The bench press competition will begin at 4 p.m. in Marano Campus Center's Swetman Gym. The campus is invited to try to hit their personal bests and cheer on their peers in this friendly competition. The winners of each weight class (men's and women's divisions) will receive medals.

UP gears up to support children's cancer charity

SUNY Oswego's University Police is participating in the Saint Baldrick's fundraiser for Kids with Cancer where all funds raised go to cancer research. If the department reaches its goal by March 24, Officer Kevin Ermann will shave his head in solidarity.

ACHA men’s club hockey hosts playoffs this weekend

After clinching the first seed of their league, for the first time ever, the Oswego ACHA (American College Hockey Association) men's club hockey team will host the NECHL (Northeast College Hockey League) playoff championships in Oswego this weekend.

Games will take place Feb. 16 to 18 in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall in Marano Campus Center.

Oswego plays on Saturday Feb 17, at 1 pm against an opponent to be determined. The potential championship game, which would include the Lakers if they win, would take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb 18.

President Nwosu to hold drop-in meetings today for students

SUNY Oswego President Peter O. Nwosu will host student drop-in hours today, Thursday, Feb. 22 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center food and activity court.  

All students are encouraged to drop in, say hello to President Nwosu, ask a question or discuss a topic of importance to them.

2024 Oz Equity Challenge to begin Monday

The Triandiflou Institute for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Transformative Practice invites you to participate in SUNY Oswego’s third annual Oz Equity Challenge, a three-week asynchronous program running Monday, Feb. 19 through Friday, March 8, 2024.

Student-run cafe to celebrate Valentine's Day with specials

Rich 'N' Pour, the student-run cafe in Rich Hall, will have drink specials and a featured beverage to show their love to the campus this Valentine's Day.

On Valentine's Day, the cafe will have a buy-one-get-one 25 percent off special, so customers can get another one for a friend or significant other, or a second drink for themselves. Students running the cafe also have added a Valentine's Day drink to the menu. 

Candidate for director of Triandiflou Institute on campus Friday, March 1

Members of the campus community are invited for a pair of opportunities on Friday, March 1, to meet with the candidate for the director of the James A. Triandiflou '88 Institute for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Transformative Practice.

A presentation, followed by a Q&A, will take place from 3 to 3:45 p.m. in 114 Marano Campus Center.

Immediately following, in the same location, the campus is invited to meet the candidate over coffee. 

ASAP session to offer advice to succeed in online learning

The Adult Student Assistance Program (ASAP) will host a virtual session titled "How to be Successful with Online Learning" at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15.

If you have questions about how to be successful in online learning, this session will offer an opportunity to learn the tips and tricks from a professor that teaches online.
