Advisement Guide application open until March 15

The Advisement Center is hiring Advisement Guides for the Fall 2024 semester. Advisement Guides work as peer advisors helping students learn the ropes of college. They provide academic support and help link their peers to campus resources.

Advisement Guides earn upper-division credit the first semester in the program, and then move on to do a paid internship the second semester. Each semester after that, they get paid hourly for working in the Advisement Center.

Deadline ahead for ARTSwego funding applications

The university's ARTSwego program announced a deadline of March 18 for applying to the upcoming funding opportunity for arts-related events happening in the 2024-2025 academic year.

16th annual Sportsmanship Day Symposium happening on Thursday

The 16th annual Sportsmanship Day Symposium will take place on Thursday, March 7, and will convey a multidisciplinary look at sportsmanship (or sportspersonship) with a theme of "Good Sportsmanship Goes Beyond Sports."

Maker Madness returns to campus on Saturday

Maker Madness, hosted by The Zonta Club of Oswego and Penfield Library will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, in the university's library. Maker Madness is a free family event where people of all ages can come to learn, play and create.

The afternoon is designed to give children of all ages the opportunity to become a scientist, explorer, engineer, artist and more.

Shabbos event tonight to feature observance, meal

Jewish Life at Oswego will sponsor a Bring Them Home Shabbos from 5 to 7 p.m. in 205 Marano Campus Center.

Everyone is welcome regardless of religion. A Shabbos is a Jewish day of rest and a Friday night meal for all to enjoy. Organizers said this Shabbos will be in dedication to the current hostages taken by Hamas.

Rich ‘N’ Pour student-run cafe, WTOP collaborate on new offering

The student-run Rich ‘N’ Pour cafe and WTOP-10 TV are teaming up to brew up a new buzzworthy drink.

The campus is invited to check out the newsworthy brown sugar buzz latte with rich brown sugar, caramel and shortbread with creamy milk and bold espresso, the cafe team said. The drink, topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle, is available through this week at the cafe in Rich Hall.

Farewell Reception for Dr. Mary C. Toale scheduled Tuesday

The campus will hold a Farewell Reception for Dr. Mary Toale from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, in 114 Marano Campus Center to recognize the longtime leader as she prepares to depart SUNY Oswego to join SUNY Geneseo as its provost and vice president for academic affairs.
