A recent honor to SUNY Oswego recognizes the college's efforts to support its non-traditional students.

SUNY Oswego alumna Suzanne Gaffney Beason -- a prolific comic-book designer before returning to the campus, where she now works -- will showcase her latest work in “The Figure and The Cocktail Era, Yesterday and Today,” opening Feb. 13 at SUNY Oswego's Syracuse campus.

When Shayla Skipp lost her husband three years ago to lymphoma, she said the only thing that kept her going were her three children and her commitment to pursuing higher education. She is one of two recipients of a new scholarship established by Visions Federal Credit Union. The scholarship provides $500 each semester to two part-time students at the Syracuse campus with a financial need.

Two SUNY Oswego professors, a former mayor of Oswego and a Central Square teacher are among presenters ready to offer their wisdom this July to learners ages 50 and over in Lifelong Learning courses in mass media, creative writing, American politics, digital photography, painting and drawing, and mind, body and health.
