Fehmi Damkaci, professor and chair of SUNY Oswego's chemistry department and founder and director of the GENIUS Olympiad environmental competition in Oswego for high school students from scores of countries around the world for nearly nine years, has earned the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Faculty Service.

The State University of New York has conferred on Casey Raymond, associate professor of chemistry at SUNY Oswego, the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, based on his consistent, beyond-the-call care for the performance and success of his students, his colleagues, his discipline and the college's state-of-the-art science building.

A spirit of collaboration led to SUNY Oswego’s creative writing, chemistry and cinema and screen studies programs working together to create a series of short films on laboratory safety.

SUNY Oswego chemistry faculty member Dr. Vadoud Niri recently was named recipient of the 2018 Provost's Award for Mentoring in Scholarly and Creative Activity.

Vadoud Niri of the SUNY Oswego chemistry faculty and his undergraduate assistants worked steadily—and quietly—for three years researching five common houseplants as agents for removing potentially hazardous chemicals such as acetone from the air.

SUNY Oswego chemistry professor Dr. Kestas Bendinskas and his student researchers recently shared in a grant for a preliminary study of stress markers and related effects among workers who take paid vacation time and those who leave some or all of it on the table.
