The college’s State Employee Federated Appeals (SEFA) campaign has a number of events and ways the campus community can help local charities in November.

Orders are open for the Thanksgiving Pie Sale through Friday, Nov. 5, with proceeds benefitting those in need in the Oswego area via the United Way of Greater Oswego County and Human Concerns Food Pantry. The variety of 10-inch pies from Ontario Orchards include apple, pumpkin, cherry and blueberry ($17 each) or apple crumb or apple-umpkin (layers of apple and pumpkin with crumb topping) for $18 each. These pies can be purchased online through the SEFA storefront, and participants can also use that form to donate pies to the Human Concerns Food Pantry for Thanksgiving distribution to local residents in need.

The campus community is invited to the last of this year’s Bake Off fundraisers for the local United Way from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, in Marano Campus Center. Bakers submit desserts in taste-size portions wrapped in plastic or in cupcake paper cups, and people can sample these creations for 50 cents each. Those interested in submitting treats can email mallory.bower@oswego.edu or sherri.devercelly@oswego.edu with what they plan to make and/or other questions.

SEFA also partners with University Police for No-Shave November fundraising to support men's health initiatives. Participants can learn more, sign up, donate and sponsor team members via the SUNY Oswego/SEFA No-Shave November website or the SUNY Oswego SEFA storefront.

Friday, Nov. 5, is the deadline for submissions to the popular Baskets of Caring fundraiser, which also supports the local United Way. Buildings, offices or areas traditionally get together to assemble themed baskets, where members of the college community can vote on their favorites with a chance to win them. This year's event will take place Nov. 8 to 15 for online ticket sales and in person in Marano Campus Center on Nov. 17 and 18 for live basket viewing and in-person ticket sales.

SEFA also is putting on a show for a good cause next week -- and seeking campus community acts to perform. The inaugural SEFA Talent Showcase, 4:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Curtis Manor in Oswego, is a fundraiser for local charity Peaceful Remedies. Those with a talent to share can sign up in advance by emailing tim.nekritz@oswego.edu and/or robert.hageny@oswego.edu, and all are welcome to attend and cheer on their colleagues. Admission is a $5 suggested donation for adults, with children admitted free.
