Penfield hosting inauguration exhibition, Sheldon keychain giveaway

Penfield Library's newest exhibit, "Traditions at Oswego: Inaugurations," celebrates the historic inauguration of SUNY Oswego's 11th President Peter Nwosu. This exhibit, located on the first floor and the Barbara Palmer Shineman Research Room (Room 8), explores the historic ceremonies and unique celebrations honoring presidents at SUNY Oswego.

1861 Giving Challenge is under way

The Laker community is asked to help: This morning at 8 a.m., the clock started ticking in the 1861 Giving Challenge.

Organizers have less than 1,861 minutes to get 861 Lakers to make a gift to The Fund for Oswego.

If the drive meets that goal by the deadline of 3:01 p.m. tomorrow, Dr. Paul Vianco ’80 will give the university $70,000.

Summer study-abroad course in Tanzania opens new world to students

This summer, 15 SUNY Oswego students traveled to Tanzania for the “Biodiversity and Conservation” study-abroad course led by biological sciences faculty members Susan Hammerly and Karen Sime, learning about the complex topic of conserving species while also partaking in an exciting adventure.

SHOP donation drive starts next week

A donation drive supporting the university's SHOP (Students Helping Oz Peers) campus pantry will start on Monday, Sept. 23, and run through Friday, Oct. 4.

Sponsored by SHOP, Career Services and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion for Out-tober, the donation drive will focus on household items, hygiene products and gender-affirming care products such as trans-affirming shapewear, menstrual undergarments and unisex clothing, for example.

Students, faculty, staff invited to daylong celebration of President Nwosu's inauguration

Students, faculty and staff are invited to a historic day featuring an inauguration ceremony and post-event celebration marking the official installation of SUNY Oswego President Peter O. Nwosu on Friday, Sept. 27.

The official inauguration will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sept. 27 in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall –- named for the president immediately preceding Nwosu. 

'Veritas' film to screen Friday with director Q&A

The campus is invited to attend a free screening of "Veritas," the award-winning documentary on a crucial event of the Cold War: the invasion of the Bay of Pigs, followed by a Q & A session with director Eliecer Jiménez Almeida from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20 in 315 Park Hall.

The event is sponsored by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, made possible thanks to the support of ARTSwego and Hart Hall.
