'Recollections' exhibition portrays mementos as sparks for cherished stories

Randy Bowling treasures a ceramic bull, recalling his youthful days riding a Brahman bull named "Jack." His story is one of many highlighted in a traveling SUNY Oswego art exhibition, "Recollections: Storytelling Through Mementos," on display for the next month at Randy's home, Loretto Health and Rehabilitation Center, 700 E. Brighton Ave. in Syracuse.

Chancellor's Award honors Fehmi Damkaci for GENIUS, other service contributions

Fehmi Damkaci, professor and chair of SUNY Oswego's chemistry department and founder and director of the GENIUS Olympiad environmental competition in Oswego for high school students from scores of countries around the world for nearly nine years, has earned the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Faculty Service.

J. Douglas Deal, professor of history and director of general education at SUNY Oswego, died in Massachusetts on April 23, 2019. Doug came to SUNY Oswego in 1982 and retired in 2011.

May 10 reception to honor Eugenio Basualdo's retirement

Eugenio Basualdo, who has taught career and technical educator preparation, in the School of Education, is retiring after 40 years of dedicated service at SUNY Oswego.

The community is invited to join in wishing him a fond farewell with a reception from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, May 10, in the common space between Wilber and Park halls.

Chemistry professor earns SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching

The State University of New York has conferred on Casey Raymond, associate professor of chemistry at SUNY Oswego, the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, based on his consistent, beyond-the-call care for the performance and success of his students, his colleagues, his discipline and the college's state-of-the-art science building.
