Members of the campus community are reminded of the availability of the Oswego Guardian/Rave Guardian app, which can turn a smartphone into a personal safety device.

The Oswego Guardian app includes such options as an inbox, call directory, safety timer, tip submission and ability to contact University PoliceThe free app, available as Rave Guardian via the Apple and Google Play stores, allows users to to check in with family, friends, University Police or others you trust to help you stay safe both on and off campus.

The app allows users to

  • Set a safety timer: This feature will notify people you trust to check in on you if you are alone or in an unfamiliar place.
  • Get help immediately: The push of a button can directly connect you with 911 or University Police in case of emergency.
  • Manage and message your guardians: You can invite family, friends or others to be your Guardian in the app, to communicate with them within the app as needed.
  • Enable easy emergency communication: You can call safety officials directly for help if you are in trouble and send text tips -- including photos -- if you see something suspicious. You can anonymously submit tips to prevent dangerous situations.
  • Stay informed: Users can receive alerts based on their location, even without a cell signal.
