About Oswego, New York

Oswego, New York, with a population of approximately 18,000, is conveniently located 45 minutes northwest of Syracuse and 80 minutes east of Rochester. Frequent bus service between Oswego and Syracuse is available along with connecting service throughout the northeastern U.S. by bus, train, and plane. New York City and Boston are about a five- to six- hour drive from Oswego while Canadian cities such as Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto are about 3-5 hours from campus by road. All of these cities are within 60 minutes by plane.

As a SUNY Oswego student with a college ID, you can ride the Centro bus free from campus to downtown Oswego. You would have to pay the fare to the Metro Center, downtown Syracuse, the Syracuse Regional Transportation Center or the Great Northern Mall.

Several taxicab companies operate in Oswego. You can reserve a taxi to take you to Syracuse's Hancock Airport. It costs approximately $60 - $70 from Oswego to Hancock Airport.

Student activities

You can find lots of opportunities to make the best of what Oswego has to offer. International Students and Scholar Services and the International Students Association plan trips each academic year from Niagara Falls to the Thousand Islands. Never heard of the Thousand Islands?
