CTS Labs and Help Desk closing at 4:30pm, 1/27

All CTS computer labs in Penfield, Mahar 210 and Campus Center 207 as well as the CTS Help Desk will be closing at 4:30pm, 1/27 due to the severe weather conditions.

CTS Help Desk Extended Hours

January 24, 2014

The Help Desk will be open extended hours through the weekend. Our hours will be:

Friday, January 24th: 8am - 7pm
Saturday, January 25th: 12(noon) - 4pm
Sunday, January 26th: 12(noon) - 7pm

If you are experiencing any technical issues, please take advantage of the extended hours. We look forward to assisting you!

Server Storage Problem

One of the CTS server storage arrays had an issue over the weekend.  We have the issue mostly resolved but if faculty or staff have issues connecting to shared network 'Z' drives (not Google Drive), please try rebooting your computer first.  If you continue to experience problems, please contact the Help Desk at 315.312.3456.

Reminder: LakerApps Login Page Changing Effective 7:30 am, 1/20

Effective 7:30 am, January 20, the login page for LakerApps (Gmail, Calendar, Drive and Sites) will be changing.

Shared drive and web services issues resolved

At approximately 9pm last night, CTS began receiving outage reports concerning web services such as Banner/MyOswego, and faculty shared drives.

The problem was traced to a technical issue with equipment that hosts these services. Several other services residing on said equipment were also affected this morning, including: MailMan, digital signage, and TMA.

Google Apps Login Change scheduled for Monday, January 20!

As referenced in a prior blog post, Google is changing its Apps for Education sign-in pages to have a consistent look and feel. This provides better security and will make it easier for clients to switch between multiple Google accounts.

Google has scheduled this change to take effect for our campus on Monday, January 20.

Campus-wide Network/Voice Services Outage - Sunday 1/12 6am-10am

Campus Technology Services will be upgrading core network equipment in Culkin Hall this Sunday, January 12 from 6:00am to 10:00am. These upgrades will allow the necessary expansion and flexibility for future infrastructure planning.

At the final Fall Faculty Assembly (FA) meeting in November, I had the privilege of updating FA on the activities of Campus Technology Services. My update tried to convey CTSs commitment to being an integral part of enabling student success.
