Upcoming Changes to myOswego

Sep 09, 2013 | myOswego Security Software Web

Look for some login changes coming to myOswego and its associated applications in the next few weeks.

CTS has been working on streamlining authentication into multiple systems that use the same username and password, primarily your Laker NetID.  Two of those systems are myOswego and DegreeWorks.  In the next few weeks, a new technology called Single Sign-On will be implemented to accomplish this.  The myOswego webpage will be changed to something similar to the following.

Wi-Fi Overhaul Being Planned

Sep 09, 2013 | Mobile Networking

Last spring, CTS worked with our Campus Technology Advisory Board to survey the campus on their satisfaction with the services we provide to the campus.  The results of that survey indicated that the campus wi-fi needs to be more reliable and easier to use. Since then, a re-design of wi-fi has become one of our highest priorities.

All residence halls now have wi-fi coverage in individual rooms as well as public gathering spots such as lounges.

Don't Get Hooked by a Phishing Scam

Sep 09, 2013 | LakerApps Security Tips

We've been seeing a few phishing scams that have made it past Gmail's spam and phishing filters lately.  Please do not reply to any email asking for your username, password, date of birth, social security number, credit card numbers or other sensitive data.  More than likely it is an attempt to steal your identity, otherwise known as a phishing scam.

If a phishing scam makes it into your inbox, report it to Gmail.  While looking at the message, click the down arrow button in the upper right of the message.  That will review a menu of options. Click the "Report Phishing" option.

Mobile Office Apps

Aug 07, 2013 | LakerApps Mobile Software Tips

We’re often asked about Office apps on the iOS and Android mobile operating systems. While an official Microsoft Office app does exist for most mobile systems, it requires an active Office 365 subscription. For those users who don’t have that subscription (probably you, if you’re reading this), there are several great alternatives.

Looking to buy a new tablet or smartphone?

Jul 11, 2013 | Hardware Mobile Tips

The popularity of tablets & smartphones is growing at a fast rate (while PC sales slump). However, for many users it is frustrating to choose not only "what" to purchase, but "when" to do so! Because competition is so fierce among top companies like Samsung and Apple, models seem to become obsolete literally as they touch store shelves.
