Help Desk Renovation Completed

The newly renovated CTS Help Desk is now open.

CTS recently renovated the campus Help Desk to better serve our customers. The new setup optimizes the space, allowing us to work more efficiently and to better handle phone and walk-in traffic.

Campus Network Outage, Saturday, May 31 6am-noon

Campus Technology Services will be upgrading the network equipment that connects our campus to the Internet on Saturday, May 31, 6am-noon.

During this timeframe:

- All connections originating from on-campus to the Internet will be unavailable.
- All connections originating from the Internet to any campus network service will be unavailable.
- Any service requiring a SUNY Oswego login will be unavailable.

Network Outage Delayed

The arrival of equipment needed for the network outage scheduled for Saturday, March 22 continues to be delayed. The outage will be rescheduled on a date to be determined. CTS will send further communications once a future date has been established.

As a reminder, this upgrade is needed in order to provision additional Internet bandwidth for SUNY Oswego. It will also position SUNY Oswego to increase Internet network services more rapidly in the future to support the growth needs of academic and residential clients.

Network Outage Postponed to Saturday, 3/22, 6am-noon

CTS originally scheduled a campus network outage for Sunday, March 16 to upgrade network equipment that connects our campus to the Internet. This has been postponed due to delays in the arrival of equipment to campus.

The upgrade will now be scheduled on the fallback date of Saturday, March 22 from 6am - noon.   A new fallback date has not been determined should the equipment continue to be delayed or there are issues with the installation. As a reminder, during this timeframe:

Tech Tip: Don’t miss the CTS Updates

CTS continually updates and upgrades the operating system and software on campus computers to ensure both security and functionality.  Much of this work is automatically delivered to college-owned faculty/staff computers each Wednesday morning – otherwise known as “Patch Wednesdays”.

If your computer is not turned on and connected to the network when the updates are delivered, don’t worry.  Your computer will be updated the next time it connects to the campus network.  Laptops will receive the updates once they are back on campus and connected to the network.
