Marketing students helping NYS firefighters recruit younger volunteers

As president of the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs, 1966 SUNY Oswego graduate John Sroka understands firsthand how important volunteer firefighters are to the safety of New York state. Of the state’s 1,665 registered fire departments, more than 90 percent rely solely on volunteers, so he turned to his alma mater to address falling numbers of recruits.

Melissa Arduini earns Chancellor's Award for Classified Service

Melissa Arduini, administrative aide for MBA programs in the School of Business, has earned the 2018 Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Classified Service from the State University system, an honor emblematic of "superior performance and extraordinary achievement" in a state Civil Service position.

College's Newman Fellow raises awareness of food allergies

Campus Compact recently named Joseph DiLuca, a fourth-year accounting/MBA major, one of only 268 Newman Civic Fellows nationwide for 2018-19, thanks to his sustained community service, including raising awareness of the dangers of food allergies as a way to share lessons from his cousin's death.
