SUNY Oswego’s library faculty and professional staff recently welcomed nearly 30 librarians from around central and northern New York to Penfield Library for a joint professional development day on March 9. The day was jointly planned by SUNY Oswego librarians and representatives from the Onondaga, Oswego, Cortland and Madison School Library System (O2CM).

During the weeks when Winter Session courses are being held online and most students have left campus, Penfield Library remains open as a beacon of learning, community, and warmth on the SUNY Oswego campus.

In spring 2025, Penfield Library’s Archives and Special Collections finished digitizing and providing basic metadata for their entire collection of former U.S. President Millard Fillmore’s papers. This marks the culmination of nearly seven years of effort on the part of an evolving team of librarians, staff, and students.

Penfield Library is pleased to announce their new Harmony Room is now open.

The campus community is invited to a free screening of the 60-minute film "Searching For Timbuctoo" at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 6:30pm in 122 Shineman Center. Director Paul A. Miller will join afterwards to hold a talkback with the audience.

Penfield Library, the Office of Sustainability and the Oswego Public Library came together to celebrate National Seed Swap Day on Saturday, Jan. 27. They hosted a lively seed swap at the public library, with 24 local gardeners coming together to share seeds, seed catalogs, and seed-starting tips.

The first floor of Penfield Library now hosts the "Hidden Women" art exhibit featuring student work.

SUNY Oswego’s Penfield Library is hosting its second Research Party of the semester from 6 to 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10.

"Stopping Time: A Photographic Collection of Moments in Nature," a photography show by senior studio art major Bailey Maier is now on display on the third floor of Penfield Library.
