Education departments to reunite in renovated Wilber Hall

The New York State Education Department recently awarded a five-year, $1.63 million grant to SUNY Oswego's School of Education to scale up and enhance its Teacher Opportunity Corps program, which seeks to attract and retain teacher candidates from underrepresented groups -- particularly young men -- in high-need schools.

Brazilian state honors Alfred Frederick's contributions to education

Distinguished Service Professor Alfred Frederick of SUNY Oswego last month earned the title of Citizen of the State of Piauí, an award bestowed by the northeastern Brazilian state's Legislative Assembly for his more than 25 years working to improve education in the state of Piauí and elsewhere in Brazil.
