Two years ago, junior broadcasting and mass communications major Zac Nusimow set a goal to interview Al Roker ‘76 during his time as a student at SUNY Oswego. On April 28, he achieved that goal alongside his co-host Justin Klint as part of his original WTOP production “Out On Our Own Oswego.”

Nusimow is a part of the student-run broadcasting station WTOP-10 TV which Roker helped fund and develop as a dedicated alumnus. The interview took place in SUNY Oswego’s Al Roker Studio and will serve as the grand finale for the series.

'Out On Our Own Oswego'

“Out On Our Own Oswego,” known around campus as OX5, is a show that features interviews from both local Oswego business owners and public figures, such as City of Oswego Mayor Billy Barlow. Nusimow and his team also featured events on campus such as Rail Jam and a look into campus rec activities like Broomball.

Nusimow’s interview with Roker covered his time spent as a student at SUNY Oswego and how it helped shape his journey from being a student in Central New York to becoming one of the world’s most recognizable weathermen today.

Viewers are invited to watch the interview live on Thursday, May 5, 2022, on WTOP-10 TV’s Channel 10.2, and the station’s Twitch Stream; wtop10.com/live at 9:30 p.m. It will also be available for viewership the following day Friday, May 6  on WTOP-10 TV’s YouTube page.
