A psychology major from Central Square, Emily Colledge transferred to Oswego from SUNY Fredonia.
Tell us about your transfer journey.
I transferred from Onondaga Community College to SUNY Fredonia in 2023. This was after completing my associate's degree in music. I then transferred from SUNY Fredonia to SUNY Oswego in 2024.
Why did you choose Oswego?
I chose Oswego because it was closer to home and felt like a better fit for me personally. I also have a sister who is attending graduate school here, and I was happy to join the same school she was attending.
What is your major, and why did you choose it?
My major is in psychology, I have a minor in expressive arts therapy, and I completed the child advocacy microcredential. I chose this major, as I had been double-majoring at SUNY Fredonia in psychology and music therapy. Oswego did not have music therapy as a major, so I opted to drop the music therapy and expand into expressive arts therapy.
Tell us about your Oswego experience.
In my time at Oswego, I have taken part in Psi Chi, which is an honor society for psychology majors. I have also joined the Honors in Psychology program to continue expanding my learning. As well as joining the ACE (Advancing Completion through Engagement) program. I have enjoyed multiple events that have been offered by the school, such as the Color Run and the Great Pumpkin Run. I also love participating in Paint and Sips when they are offered.
In what ways did you feel supported in the transition to become a Laker?
I had a great support system when transitioning to being a Laker. My family was very supportive, first and foremost. In addition, I have had wonderful advisors from the very start. This includes my transfer advisor, major and minor advisors, as well as my ACE advisor.
