The SUNY Oswego campus is preparing to welcome families and supporters back for one of its most anticipated traditions, now in a new semester: Spring Family and Friends Weekend.
Taking place Friday, April 17, through Sunday, April 19, the weekend offers a wide range of opportunities for families to reconnect with their students, experience campus life, and engage with the Oswego community.
Hosted by Student Orientation and Family Engagement (SOFE), the weekend is designed to showcase the student experience through academic, social and recreational programming. Families are encouraged to plan ahead, as lodging in the Oswego area fills quickly during these popular weekends.
The schedule includes a mix of signature events, performances, interactive activities and opportunities to explore campus spaces.
On Friday evening, families can attend the Student Leadership Awards in Hewitt Ballroom or test their knowledge at Hip Hop/R&B Trivia in the Laker Landing (Marano Campus Center food court). Theatre enthusiasts can enjoy a performance of the musical “All Shook Up!” in Waterman Theatre, while others may opt for Candy Bar Bingo or a featured movie screening in the Marano Campus Center auditorium.
Saturday offers a full day of engagement across campus. Families can participate in a FAFSA and TAP workshop, explore the outdoors at Rice Creek Field Station through birdwatching and guided nature walks, or attend the Spring Supporter Festival in Hewitt.
Academic experiences are also highlighted, including an interactive chemistry session hosted by the Chemistry Club. Afternoon and evening programming includes another showing of “All Shook Up!,” rollerskating, esports gaming and a live comedy show.
Sunday provides a more relaxed close to the weekend, with open access to campus fitness facilities, a craft fair in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall, and open swim hours at Lee Hall.
Spring Family and Friends Weekend reflects SUNY Oswego’s commitment to fostering connection and belonging, extending the campus experience to the families and supporters who play a vital role in student success.
