SUNY Oswego’s Self-Study report (2022) was recently submitted to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education as a required part of the institutional re-accreditation process, and in advance of the evaluation team visit that will be held virtually March 6-9, 2022.

Our Self-Study describes and demonstrates how SUNY Oswego meets all Middle States Standards while adhering to our mission, strategic plan, and aligned institutional priorities of Student Success, Academic and Creative Excellence, Inclusive Community, Sustainable Institution, and Partnerships, which all guide our way. We proudly feature Sustainable Institution as the fourth in a five-part series on our institutional priorities seen through the lens of our Self-Study.

A thriving, Sustainable Institution is the byproduct of effectively managing, positioning, and cultivating SUNY Oswego’s learner-centered approach.  For SUNY Oswego to remain a Sustainable Institution, both fiscally and environmentally, we must protect and manage our reserves well; cultivate and obtain new substantial development activities and partners; and continue to invest in campus-based actions that reduce our carbon footprint and other impacts on the natural environment.

A sampling of SUNY Oswego’s investment in a Sustainable Institution include the following with more information on each within our 2022 Self-Study report:

  • Digital Campus – See chapters 1 and 6  of the Self-Study
  • The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) Silver designation – See chapter 2 of the Self-Study
  • Office of Sustainability – See chapter 2 of the Self-Study
