Quest, a day devoted to research and scholarly activity, returns with on April 22 with range of presentations, posters, performances and more featuring recent research and creative work from students, faculty and staff. SUNY Oswego’s Quest –- a day devoted to research and scholarly activity, this year centered on April 22 –- will feature a keynote address by Maria Murray, president and CEO of the Reading League and a former SUNY Oswego faculty member.
Murray will present "From Ten to Tens of Thousands: How Evidence, Courage, and Community Changed the Conversation About Reading" from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center auditorium (room 132).
A former colleague in what is now the College of Education, Health and Human Services, Murray is a passionate educator committed to literacy instruction that transforms lives and allows all learners to thrive through the lifespan.
Founded in 2016, the Reading League is a national nonprofit led by educators and reading experts dedicated to advancing evidence-aligned practices in classrooms across the country and around the world. Through professional development, resources and strategic support, they strive to empower educators and school leaders with the knowledge and tools to deliver effective reading instruction grounded in the science of how people learn to read.
Quest schedule
The Quest kickoff returns to SUNY Oswego’s Syracuse Campus with a variety of poster presentations from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21.
For the traditional Quest day on Oswego’s lakeside campus and online, a range of presentations, posters, performances and more will feature recent research and creative work from students, faculty and staff. All events are free and open to the public. The program runs from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., during which regular classes will not be held.
