SUNY Oswego’s Tyler Art Gallery still has two special events connecting to its current exhibition, “Grant Arnold and the Golden Era of Woodstock Lithography – 1930-1940”: "Remembering Grant Arnold" on March 23 and "Presenting 'Scottsboro Limited' by Langston Hughes" on March 27.

Running from March 1 to 30, this exhibition features prints from the SUNY Oswego Grant Arnold Collection, which contains hundreds of prints by prominent American printmakers of the first half of the 20th century. Arnold personally donated more than 350 of the pieces.

The exhibition and related events are free and open to the public, with this exhibition receiving support from the Woodstock School of Art and ARTSwego.

"Remembering Grant Arnold," running 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, will be an afternoon of telling tales, remembering the past, and learning about the influence of the master printer on several generations of printmakers. Facilitated by Mindy Ostrow, a former assistant director of Tyler Art Gallery, this event is for printmakers and print lovers in the region who knew or were influenced by Arnold's work as a printer and printmaker. The stories will be recorded and added to the Grant Arnold Collection at SUNY Oswego.

"Presenting 'Scottboro Limited' by Langston Hughes," from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, will feature a presentation by Patricia Clark of SUNY Oswego's English and Creative Writing Department. Gifted to Tyler Art Gallery by Arnold, this rare limited-edition artist book written by Hughes is a powerful look at the tragic events in Scottsboro, Alabama. Written in real-time, the book features illustrations drawn by artist Prentiss Taylor on lithograph stones. Arnold etched and printed these images.

Tyler Art Gallery is open 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends.
