On Sunday, Nov. 3, SUNY Oswego student-athletes demonstrated their commitment to community service by raking over 50 yards of senior citizens in the Oswego community.
The event coincides with an annual statewide community service project by Student-Athlete Advisory Council chapters at many SUNY Athletic Conference institutions. Dressed in their school colors, the athletes rolled up their sleeves and worked together on a beautiful Sunday to make a difference in their community.
“I would like to thank the Laker student athletes for their community service of raking leaves for seniors," community member Linda Dufloe said. "They were very courteous, friendly and did an excellent job and I really appreciated their help. It’s really nice to see them interact with the community and hope this tradition continues.”
"It was a great day to give back to the Oswego community", said Merlin Joseph, assistant athletic director for student-athlete success and organizer of the project in 2024, "This initiative is a staple for our department and it's always amazing to see so many student-athletes continue to demonstrate great pride in this fun event. We truly appreciate everyone involved."
