Four Oswego State athletes earned All-American honors across three sports recently: Jordan Bushey in wrestling, Stephen Johnson and Kenny Neil in men’s hockey, and Brian Sortino in men’s basketball.

Bushey placed fourth in the 184-pound weight class at the NCAA Championships in Wisconsin. The freshman’s fantastic season included a 39-2 record, and he was undefeated heading into the national tournament.

Senior defenseman Johnson earned first-team All-American recognition from the American Hockey Coaches Association and second-team placement from USCHO.com. Senior forward Neil, now playing with the Southern Professional Hockey League’s Pensacola Ice Flyers, earned AHCA third-team honors.

Senior guard Sortino, a key contributor to the Laker men’s basketball team’s multiple runs into the NCAA tournament during his career, racked up All-American recognition from three different organizations. He was named a first-team All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches as well as that organization’s East Region Player of the Year. Sortino also netted a second-team All-American honor from DIII News and third-team All-American from D3hoops.com.
