The next installment of the I Am Oz Diversity Speaker Series will feature magician Ran'd Shine at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, in the Marano Campus Center auditorium (room 132).

The event is free and open to the campus and community.

In presenting "The New Face of Magic," Shine considers magic as much more than just entertainment.  He wants to expand the minds of audiences, get them to look at things from a different angle and explore a bit of what the term "diversity" truly means.

Since the first American-born magician was Black, Shine has traveled extensively to Africa to mix magic with exploring his roots.  He found the lessons he learned there important to be shared.

Shine's act is known for a “different kind of deception.” His psychological engaging illusions and sleight of hand have amazed audiences in over 20 countries and hundreds of American cities. He was even invited to perform at the 44th Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C. He was also featured on the CW network’s "Penn & Teller: Fool Us," was seen on The BET Network, and he’s one of few magicians to perform on Guantanamo Bay Military Base in Cuba. Known as charismatic, funny and an entertainer, he aims to blow audiences' minds with each show.
